The Abalone Dots began playing together in 2000. The band at present consists of Rebecka Hjukström singing lead and vocals, playing the guitar, five-string banjo and dobro. Elin Mörk singing lead and vocals, playing the fiddle. Sophia Hogman singing lead, playing the mandolin, cello and keyharp. Louise Holmer singing lead and vocals, playing upright base and piano. (Abalone Dots are the dots on the fingerboard of a guitar or a mandolin, referring to the Girls of course).

During 2003 the Abalone Dots won the finest prize in the "Musik Direkt final" which is supposed to be the greatest talent contest in Sweden. In 2004, they toured the US playing at OIBF (Oklahoma International Bluegrass Festival), IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association Festival) and received rave reviews.

Hey all...you're each welcome! Glad ya'll gave them a listen. I had never heard of them either, but when I read the reviews, I knew I had to check them out.

@sawadee - I'm a big fan of folk, Americana and red dirt music. I've got a bunch ready to share, but I don't see the 'green light' very often. I also keep me eyes peeled for bluegrass, but when I post them, I'm not really sure what 'label' to put them under as I haven't found a bluegrass choice at Avax, which I find odd.

@'the mirror person'....I see your comment on almost every post I upload. I just can't figure out, are you 'Mr. Sport' or 'Mrs. Port'. ;-)
