Focus - Live at the Rainbow | MP3 320Kb | 97Mb

The instrumental rockers of the early '70s never were any good at dulling down their musical expertise; and, indeed, it's only a matter of seconds into their first and only live release — Live at the Rainbow — until one realizes just how talented Focus were. Jan Akkerman, named "World's Best Guitarist" by Melody Maker in 1973 ahead of Eric Clapton and others, was amazingly on form in this performance. Thijs Van Leer, chief songwriter and performer in the band, showcased his talents on flute, vocals, and organ with unparalleled finesse. Bert Ruiter knocked out his basslines tight to Pierre Van Der Linden's drums, undoubtedly two of the finest players on their respective instruments. It would be so easy to go off on a tangent explaining the mastery that Focus had musically; suffice to say, however, the bands technical proficiency is rarely matched in the world of rock. Live at the Rainbow featured some of the band's best and most well known tracks: "Sylvia," "Hocus Pocus," "Focus II," and so on. Although much of the content sticks closely to its original studio form (12-minute tracks were regular on studio albums), with maybe an extra solo or two thrown in for good measure, a few songs host drastic changes. "Hocus Pocus," for example, is almost unrecognizable. This live version is multiple times faster than its studio counterpart — those familiar with only the studio version are certainly in for a shock! Throughout the album the performance is simply astonishing. Live at the Rainbow is a fine purchase for any Focus fan, or, indeed, anyone looking for a band with a good degree of originality and musical ability.

@ Lowcostmusic

"PS: Where is the edit button?"

Goto "My News" - Each of your publications does have an edit button :-)

BTW, hehe, I remember a time when you was much more active in uploading :-)

The "Edit" for comments button is still ... eh .. not available. Processing the pages for each user (need to check if a comment does have a button or not) is a bit timecritical. The current page creation is fast enough to handle even more users as current without 502s, but there are still timing tests for different features.

Just an fast one before bed. Instead of edit button, why not an delete button only. If something wrong its easy to copy the text and delete and then again do an new comment. I mostly used that metod in "the old days". Good night everyone!!!!!! 07.58

@ Serial

Do you know how to read private mails, eh?

As an engineering based viking you should know that there is no difference :-)

The problem is NOT the time the edit itself does need. Currently pages are pre-generated and cached, not created at realtime. The edit and delete buttons are USER-DEPENDANT. Pages must be new rendered for each and every user AND for each and every comment there must be a database check if the current user is the owner, so if he is allowed to have an edit or delete button for this current comment. Sounds a bit difficult in words, but if you think about it, you quick udnerstand the timecritical problem.

"BTW, hehe, I remember a time when you was much more active in uploading :-)"
My pre-amp is 100% but my 2nd turntable is almost dead... :-(
I'm trying to get a "new" one from my uncle Albert. Stay tuned.
BTW where is your last upload? I can pay 30 meter of cable to your turntable :-)

@ LcM

"My pre-amp is 100%" ... after your brother adjusted the RIAA curve :-))

"BTW where is your last upload?"

Since AvaxHome 3.0 started , I had no time for a music upload ... all publications were about Bugtrackers, EditorBugs, FAQs and similiar shit. BTW, the temporary FAQ is the most visited publication on AvaxHome ... about 52.000 visits in less than 3 weeks. Never had such a high visit on any music upload :-)))

The last "real" upload was Zappa's Hot Rats - just 14 hours before AvaxHome 3.0 alpha was launched. Eh, yes, NO NEED for jokes about the "Bully meets Zappa" picture :-)

http://www.avaxhome.ws/music/hot_rats.html

The one before was fully different - Jenny Lewis' first solo album - in my view a must, but most people follow the rule: If do not know it, I do not click on "read more" ...

http://www.avaxhome.ws/home/jenny_lewis.html

Just ignore the about 120 comments on that page, they have nothing to do with music. Ah, yes, I also abused one of the last commnts on that page for an experiment: "How to play a video file in a comment". Yep, works perfect, so fon't get shocked when your speakers start :-)) The video is included in the comment with the red-colored text on top.

" can pay 30 meter of cable to your turntable :-)"

Hehe, you have good memories too :-) Nah, this excuse is no longer valid. In January I bought a portable media player which also can record from line-in (up to 48 Khz). Yes, it has a harddisk :-)

But somehow we are getting "a bit" off-topic. Seems Serial's cat looks a bit strange down on us :-))) On the other hand, we're in a Beerdeer publication and he is outside now :-;)
