Michael Brecker – Time Is Of The Essence (1999)
Verve-GRP | 2007 | Jazz | EAC RIP | FLAC (IMAGE)+CUE+LOG+HQ-Covers (400Dpi) | 453Mb+16Mb

"Time Is Of The Essence" was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Jazz Instrumental Album by an Individual or Group and "Outrance" was nominated for Best Jazz Instrumental Solo.
Tenor saxophone master Michael Brecker has shared the stage and studio with most every major drummer in modern music at one time or another. It was three very special stick-slingers, however, that Brecker chose to feature on TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE: the fiery Jeff "Tain" Watts, the inventive Bill Stewart, and the incomparable powerhouse Elvin Jones. Along with Brecker's muscular wail, guitar legend Pat Metheny and organ wizard Larry Goldings offer some stunning musical vehicles for these three outstanding percussionists.
It is Brecker's signature tenor tone and bravado that prominently conducts the proceedings and he is in fine form sparring with Jones on the waltzing opener "Arc of the Pendulum," complete with Elvin's signature loping gallop. Watts gives a commanding performance on the quirky "Dr. Slate" that offers some of the most rhythmically intricate ensemble work on the disc. Stewart is his usual amazing self on such tracks as the funky "Half Past Late" and "Renaissance Man," urging Brecker, Metheny, and Goldings onward with seemingly endless intensity. Elvin gets the closing remark with Brecker's "Outrance," another dancing groove that features exemplary playing by all.

From the log you will notice that a suspicious position occurred during ripping, but EAC did it’s job properly again and there are no audible glitches.

Oceandrop & LazyJazz, you're welcome :))

Rip isn't good, there were errors. :(
Posted By: janwal46 Date: 04 Jul 2010 11:47:18
@garson; read my remark in my post:

From the log you will notice that a suspicious position occurred during ripping, but EAC did it’s job properly again and there are no audible glitches.

If you can hear anything from the error, please let me know !!
Posted By: Oceandrop Date: 04 Jul 2010 11:50:55
janwal46's adjustments are perfect for EAC, and overall range quality is nearly 100%; and he confirms this
saying that there's no audible glitches; therefore I don't think there's anything more he can do with this CD.

For me; the small problem may be either in the CD or EAC..
(Including operating systems, every program can have small-bugs, 'cause they're written by human; I live sometimes problems with EAC also; it says sometimes the CD is not in the AccurateRip database, but when I check it with CUEtools, I see that CD is "in the" accuraterip database; so I extract it again)

@Oceandrop; you're right, a better rip is not possible due to the condition of this CD. I've played the WAV, before compressing to FLAC, across the suspicious position and I could not hear any glitch. Any magician who does I will nominate for a membership of the society of otologists :))))) It's an honest rip, that's all !!!
Posted By: johhenrik Date: 04 Jul 2010 14:05:16
@janwal46: We don't listen to the rips, we look at them thru the logs! ;)

You could try dBpoweramp. It's better than EAC at small sector problems etc. It's by the guys that invented AccurateRip, so they can be trusted at doing good rips. ;)

@janwal46
I didn't say there are audio glitches.
You can have rip with errors but without glitches you can hear.
You mentioned condition of CD, probably that's the problem.
Regards.

@garson

He mentioned in the post that there is a glitch and you have to post a comment that there is a problem? Don't download and go buy it and upload yourself please.
Posted By: garson Date: 04 Jul 2010 16:39:59
@johhenrik
janwal46 is very correct, he said there was a problem, in my first post I stated it's a shame that it couldn't be ripped properly.;) I don't doubt he did the best he could.

@garson; to finalize this discussion I would say, that this CD has some minor scratches. Through my home stereo equipment (and that is no ghetto blaster I can assure you :)) ) it sounds great. Besides that, to my computer I have a separate amp connected with high quality monitor speakers, which enable me to check the audible quality and suspicious positions (if these occur, and they don't in most of my posts).

@johhenrik; it does not matter to me what one wants to comment, as long as it is decent. I agree that my remark is sufficient for people to decide to download it or not. Many will know and can confirm that I post no crap. Thanks for your kind support !!!

@Oceandrop; thanks for your support and friendship :)))

Hi sir; it's sad again to see the unneeded discussion..

Go on sir, me & lots of jazz lovers respect to you and your great shares..
Oceandrop..

@Oceandrop; does not matter, the discussion was not that hard :))))

@pguppgdn; thanks for your kind support :))))

@garson; no hard feelings, mate :))))

Thanks vidiat, I'll try :)))
Posted By: garson Date: 04 Jul 2010 22:17:11
@janwal46
No hard fillings, of course. :) I never said I don't believe you, and that you post crap. I just said it is shame that rip has errors caused by CD scratches.
Regards and sorry for all misunderstanding.

If you think EAC can save your lifes you are all completely wrong. EAC is a piece of amateur rubbish. The only thing that matters is a perfect condition of a well press CD and a reasonable CD-ROM that was engineered to read audio CDs digitally.

A very strange thing : the parts one, two and three must be downloaded directly in the browser, it is impossible to download them with Jdownloader for example. I've never seen this before.

Anyway many thanks for sharing ! ;-)

many thanks.................

You're all welcome :)))

@staki; I have no idea about that. I use FlashGet as manager and that has no problems with my own links and those from others.
