Tommy is the fourth album by the English rock band The Who. The primary lineup was guitarist Pete Townshend, vocalist Roger Daltrey, bassist John Entwistle and drummer Keith Moon.
Tommy tells a loose story about a "deaf, dumb, and blind boy" who becomes the leader of a messianic movement. Tommy was the first musical work to be billed overtly as a rock opera. Released in 1969, the album was mostly composed by guitarist Pete Townshend principally known as the guitarist and songwriter for The Who, as well as for his own solo career. In 1998 it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame for "historical, artistic and significant" value.

That's probably because the MFSL "Tommy" edition wasn't made from the master tapes, but from a custom copy that Pete Townshend had, which he screwed around with and modified. People are better off going for the Japanese remix version. Everybody loves that version of it, and hates the other version.
