The Velvet Underground - "Live: MCMXIII" (2disc set)

This album came out in conjunction with a documentary of the reunion, and subsequent concert by the band.
This was the first-ever group approved live recording by the original group, bringing Lou Reed, John Cale, Maureen Tucker and Sterling Morrison together on stage for the first time in 25 years.

The Velvet Underground decided to call it quits in 1970, and the last thing anyone expected was for them to reform. But in 1993 they announced plans for a reunion tour in Europe which also included opening for U2 on select dates. Shortly after this, Sterling Morrison passed away, so this is the only approved live album to capture the entire original line-up.

"Live: MCMXCIII" contains not only brilliantly extended versions of Velvets' classics like “Femme Fatale”, “Pale Blue Eyes” and “Heroin” but also ultra obscure numbers such as the bombastic “Hey Mr Rain” and drummer Moe Tucker's sweetly innocent singing on “I'm Sticking With You”. This album features the first new Velvet Underground song since they split, "Coyote".

This album stands as a fitting tribute to both Morrison and the legacy of The Velvet Underground.

Released originally as both a special deluxe 2 disc set and a single disc of highlights, the version I bought was the 2 disc set and it is this which I present to you.

Both versions are no longer available for sale, the only document of this concert currently available is the DVD "The Velvet Underground - Velvet Redux MCMXCIII".

Before burning to disc I'd recommend decoding the Flac file to WAV and then using the enclosed WAV CUE file.
