Secure Rip by JRiver MC 13 | no log | no cue | CTI 6018 - Epic re-issue 1988
| “ | Review by Scott Yanow Freddie Hubbard's fourth CTI recording (and the second one with Don Sebesky arrangements) certainly has a diverse repertoire. In addition to his originals "Povo" and "Sky Dive" (both of which are superior jam tunes), the trumpeter stretches out on the theme from The Godfather and Bix Beiderbecke's "In a Mist." The charts for the brass and woodwinds are colorful; there is a fine supporting cast that includes guitarist George Benson, Keith Jarrett on keyboards, and flutist Hubert Laws; and Hubbard takes several outstanding trumpet solos. | ” |
Tracklist:
1: Povo
2: In A Mist
3: Naturally
4: The Godfather
5: Sky Dive
6: Naturally (Alternate Take)
Another fine CTI 6000 series album:

Well, this is an old question that lead to some heavy testing a few years ago.
Result: No difference at all.
If the CD was clean both came with bit identical results, if scratched none came with a better result than the other.
I decided to use JRiver because of the plus in comfort, like it comes with a powerful tagging (and even more powerful database) engine.
If you use such a software to play, organize (actually this is the only soft that can hold >100k tracks in it's database without problems) , tag, transcode, sync .... why not to rip as well if the results are equal to EAC?
Besides, the chief programmer is Matt Ashland, the creator of the APE lossless format. The rip engine is not his main department, but still.
The only plus of EAC: unlike JRiver it's free.
If one insists on EAC like it's a religion he may ignore my posts, take your pick
