Gabor Szabo - Mizrab
Genre: Jazz | Flac 8 sep | 204 MB | 1973 | Scans
Secure Rip by JRiver MC 10 | no log | no cue | CTI 6026 - King Record (Jap) 24 bit remaster 2000
| “ | Review by Scott Yanow Gabor Szabo, who always had an original sound on the guitar (displaying his Hungarian heritage), is backed by a string section, horns and a rhythm section (including bassist Ron Carter and either Billy Cobham or Jack DeJohnette on drums) on this Bob James production. For the program which has not yet reissued on CD, Szabo performs two originals, a pair of pop tunes and an adaptation of a Shostakovich classical concerto. The music is well played but not particularly memorable. | ” |
Since I (and not me alone) must disagree with this review allow me a personal note
Bought this record back in the 70's just because of the cover and it turned to be one of these lucky shots once in a decade.
Never shed a single tear about the money I've spend on the Vinyl and later the CD, so if you are into this kind of 70's Jazz (and CTI in particular) reserve 10 mins.
Grab a glass of wine (or whatever is in reach usually), play track 2 Thirteen and enjoy. Don't let you fool by the first 100 secs ;)
Oh, and
Merry Christmas
