Grant Geissman - Put Away Childish Toys (1983)
Mp3 320 Kbps | 105 Mb | Total Time: 00:43:54
Genre: Jazz, Smooth Jazz

Grant Geissman kept himself very busy in the '70s, playing and touring with the Louis Bellson Orchestra and Chuck Mangione (that was him playing that killer guitar solo on "Feels So Good"), as well as being an in-demand session player. With his reputation as a player firmly established, Geissman embarked on a solo career during the '80s. He is a very accomplished player, equally versed in straight-ahead jazz, commercial jazz, or even rock. This effort is a fine reminder of how bad some of the early commercial jazz recordings were prior to the GRP wave. His attempt to follow in Larry Carlton and Lee Ritenour's footsteps is obvious and not at all convincing. He would have been much better off if he made more recordings like Good Stuff. "Blowin' Out the Orbit Floor" makes this recording worth searching for in the bargain bin; otherwise, this dated material can be left in the '70s.
