Charlie Parker Quartet with Strings (the Jimmy Carroll Orchestra) 1949
Classic Jazz | Original Mercury C-101 3 X 78rpm Mercury record set (Mercury 11036-11038) | Flac | Scans | No Log (78rpm rip) | 94.2 Mb

This is the legendary November 30, 1949 session, painstakingly transferred to digital from my original Mercury 78rpm 3-record set. The Verve remastered CD always sounded too artificial to my ears, so there you go, enjoy a slice of recorded music history. Update: Given the community's overwhelming reaction, I uploaded an extra set of this session, this time without the bass boost for those who prefer their music as close to the source as possible

319-5 Just Friends - Mercury 11036
320-3 Everything Happens To Me - Mercury 11036
321-3 April In Paris - Mercury 11037
322-2 Summertime - Mercury 11038
323-2 I Didn't Know What Time It Was - Mercury 11038
324-3 If I Should Lose You - Mercury 11037

Ah!!! What a pleasure! So much competition for "new-and-increasingly-new-reissued-on-CD" and forget these sources so difficult to overcome...
Thanks for getting back to roots

Glad you enjoyed it gentlemen.

@kongo, this was evidently not ripped with EAC (lol) so no rip log. For transcription I used a Thorens TD 126 mkIII turntable with an Audio Technica 1100 arrm and Shure M78S cartridge. I then cancelled the RIAA eq curve (78s used manufacturer-specific eq curves) and used Click Repair to remove click and crackle. In the end just a little bass boost as the bass frequencies were there, but not very apparent.
