| “ | The debut of the almighty Sweden Doom Gods COUNT RAVEN was released in 1990 and was very modern-sounding... just a joke, there’s of course no trendy/modern touch on this record. COUNT RAVEN strike up on the heritage of BLACK SABBATH’s doomy works, played on a very high level. This is also witnessed by the vocals, which sound very Ozzy-like. Christian Lindersson was only involved on this CD, then the mic changed to Dan “Fodde” Fondelius, who sounds like the reincarnation of Ozzy and he also sang on all following COUNT RAVEN records. Here, he is heard on the song “Sometimes A Great Nation”, where he proves, that he is the better vocalist for the band. This disc is the revelation for all friends of emotional Doom Metal. It’s nearly unbelievable, how much divine songs you can find on almost one hour. Already the beautiful, melancholic Doom ballad “A Devastating Age” belongs to the best the Metal world has to offer. But also a crusher like the plain, ultra heavy “Within The Garden Of Mirrors” is a must. “True Revelation” is a song, mighty like a mountain, massive and majestic. Principally, COUNT RAVEN present us on this album everything, a Doom fan can expect. Although some people would ask for more diversity, their spectre is actually very wide. From dragging, mystical songs to epic tracks, they offer us a firework of sad Slow-Motion songs. They create a capturing aura, you can’t escape, provided that you’re a genre fan. This album will make you happy, definitively! | ” |
