@Miguk,
1) the 128 kbps 44Khz version of this CD have 39.8 Mb (fixed bitrate)
2) the average kbps of this download is +/- 200 kbps (it's vbr). Did you download it?

Hi: Can you please try changing the rip parameters you use? A frequency analysis using Adobe Audition v1.5 shows a hi-frequency cutoff at ~15.5 kHz. In other words, everything above 15.5 kHz is gone. I ran a spectrum analysis with Sound Forge and it showed the same thing. I like Pat Metheny, and I'm very glad you posted links to it, it's just a shame to lose so much of the music. Thanks.

But we also should look on the mterial itself. If it is a vinyl rip and the vinyl is no virgin :-) you normally cannot exspect the quality of a (non-scratched) CD! So normally it makes not much sense to code that at 320 Kbps non-joined stereo :-)

LcM clearly states that it is a vinyl rip. And as I'm sure that he did not spent a week in digital remastering it :-) I think the bitrate is OK.

As long as some eggheads flush AvaxHome with crappy mp3"pro" rips of CDs!! we should be glad at vinyl rips of double-times bitrates.

BTW, here is a copy of what I wrote in another publication one hour ago:

"... No matter, I really enjoyed a noisy vinyl rip of Django Reinhart last week. Tnx again, Lowcostmusic! I just imagined sitting on a wheelchair on a large hazienda in Brazil :-) and listening to an old schellack on a grammophone. That gave the right feeling for this great music."
