Ensemble Philidor (on period instruments) | Recorded in 2000

"Throughout its length this work (KV 388) goes far beyond the bounds of entertainment music; it stands out as a work in the most serious of veins, and one of Mozart's most rigourous and advanced compositions. The key of C minor imposes an atmosphere that runs right through the piece, whose tragic and sombre cast is dissipated only in the unexpected final variation in the major." -Alain Patrick Olivier

The Ensemble Philidor was founded in France in 1992. They use early wind instruments (on this recording, from 1780-1800) or exact copies.

To my ears (after listening to a few bars) they are beyond the Zefiro recordings.
Opinions?

There is an accompanying "ticking" along the music, is this the noise of fingering the valves in these old instruments? It certainly doesn't help to enjoy the music. Has anybody else noticed the ticking?

Thanks!
@wolfgang It's depend of what kind of device and source you used. If it's PC - it may me adding noise. If it's burned CD-R - it may coused due to too high record velocity. For a pitty modern DVD-CD writers don't permit to write CD slowly than 8-x. But for audio only 2-x max recommended.
