The Doors - Strange Days - DCC Vinyl Mastered By Steve Hoffman #0165 (pbthal rip)
Original rip 24-bit/192kHz > Redbook | Flac | Artwork, orginal pbthal txtfile | 221mb

To me, this is a gorgeous work of dark romanticism, a beautiful black pool in moonlight. The acoustic textures of drum, guitar, keyboards and voice are completely in sync: all four are liquid, hazy and always slightly manic. The record creates a tremendously potent mood of sweet melancholy, of dream, of vaguely heartbroken yet nonetheless ecstatic love. As ineffably poignant as poetry (and containing some rather good poetry), it is a strange and wondrous combination of love, hope, and violence that has become, probably irrevocably, part of my soul. I cannot really imagine California without this record informing my visions. And what visions "Strange Days" evokes! The voice of an arguing couple coming down from a lit window at night... A lonely poet wandering the beaches of LA at high tide, beginning to dance... Cars going everywhere and nowhere down the highways of California... Rain falling on the pages of a copy of one of Freud's works.... Red wine in a glass... something beautifully, unmistakably American, Californian, absolutely L.A. and nothing else, yet framing only all the most aesthetically perfect aspects of the culture, cutting out everything shallow and blunt... doing nothing less than redeeming L.A. from the bleary eye of its drunken daylight. --Anton Dolinsky

OMG, I've been looking for this pb rip for ages! Really appreciated!

For anyone interested there's an earlier pbthal rip that appeared here, as an other poster just pointed out --- his incredible Quadraphonic DSOtM rip: http://avaxhome.ws/music/rock/progressive_rock/darksidequad.html

Wow! Thank you very much!
Please post whatever you have... it's a pleasure to hear a properly ripped vinyl. (Though I would have prefered them in 29/96, but I know it's not your rip)
Really thanks!

This is not one of pbthal's newer "24/192 -> 16/44.1" transfers. In fact,It looks like he hasn't gotten to the Doors with the newer method. (Just search Doors + 192khz @ P's)

His next wave of sheer blissful musical mayhem with the 'Terminator' setup taken with The Doors catalog, now that is what we should look forward to! Thanks for this one, though. It is a definite upgrade I believe from his previous post late 2008 at demonoid.

:nostalgiac lens: Sure,it was grand when Pbthal was posting at P's. Like I said, with whatever political goings on over there,Love - Forever Changes was his last post on June 2nd. Until further notice... So,it's decent for you to post his newest stuff here. I only hope he gets to the Floyd catalog, spec. that Quad DSoTM again.

Why not up his Doors - Rhino box set also? It isn't the newer "192khz Remaster series" but sounds good nonetheless. It seems there is just a lack of bass with that release. He said it came out pretty good,I go to one of the DCC versions in place of one or two of the Rhino's,each has it's positives, sure.

Thanks for the post, anyhow vinylsplendor. Sorry if I seem to be talking down to you.
I was just aiming to clarify some points. "I hate clarifications!" - (My best grumpy smurf. ;)

Many thanks, this rip is incredible!! Do u have any of his amazing Beetles rips?

These Pbthal rips are sooooo good! Amazing resolution, awesome transients without that "tube-type" mush "warmth" that makes other lp extracts sound clouded. Thanx much!!

Thanks so much. I never download the pbthal's from demonoid as they are the 44.1 and I figure they can't really sound better, albeit different, from CDs. I'm really looking forward to hearing this and hope that you post all your 2496 and any 24192 you have.

Oh wait, my misunderstanding. These are not pbthal's original 2496. Too bad he doesn't make those available to someone for posting. They must be killer.
