Rush - Fly By Night - Original US LP Mastered At Masterdisk (pbthal rip)
Original rip 24-bit/192kHz > Redbook | Flac | artwork, original pbthal textfile | 267mb

Fly By Night is worth the price of the album for just the title track but as with all RUSH creations this entire recording is classic gold. Everything is likable and when you are in the mood for some decades-old rock-n-roll this is just the kind of music that will satisfy. Just remind yourself before pushing play that Geddy was singing in much higher ranges long ago and you may want to adjust your expectations if you have become accustomed to newer RUSH songs. This album in particular seems like RUSH music for driving cross-country. Maybe it is just the first of a long stream of RUSH that you will want to listen to when behind the wheel on a lengthy ride. --Pete Wilson

Pbthal is responsible for some of the best-sounding rips in the needledrop business. All his HQ vinyl is originally transferred at 24/192 but always issued at 16/44.1 (redbook). I have more, including his newer releases not readily available.

Too bad that all those releases are 16/44.1 :(
Posted By: doncorlone Date: 11 Aug 2009 23:58:18
@mujebai - yeah, like you'd really know the difference.

@vinylsplendor - thanks for these outstanding rips, don't let the trolls prevent you from posting them, they're just a bunch of bitter jealous creeps. THANK YOU!!!!!

@doncorlone

No need to be rude. On my system I can tell the difference.

Thanks for Rush at HQ!!!!

To my ears this sound better than the SHM-CD, Thanks a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!

Checked pb's list of posts at demonoid. What a painfully slow website! Maybe due to some technical issues. Quite a bit of heavy rock material is there, to my surprise. Hope you can post some of that stuff. Thanks.

Excellent post, thank you! It really does sound better than the SHM version which was my previous reference. Pbthal has made the rippings I have heard of his into an art form.

@amitnewyork

Yes, I tried several torrents there in the past and the "ETA" is usually 1-2 weeks!! I cannot believe how slowwww it is! Hopefully vinylspelnder will post more Pbthal rips in the coming days.

Jaw-dropping sound, thanks a bunch!!

I don't understand why the original form of the files aren't uploaded. I'm sure these modified forms sound great but the original forms probably sound better.

Fantastic rip, thanks for spreading the word on pbthal's rips vinylsplendor!

@BarryLyndon
Leave it to the whiners to sing the same tune, over and over and over and over. Dude, I'll bet
the original master tapes sound even better than every possible rip, so go cry to the record
companys. Who's holding a gun to your head to down these anway? ~whine whine whine whine~

Excellent! I already have this one, but it is EASILY the best version of this album we're likely to get. The original masters are in such lousy shape that an MFSL release will never happen, and the master used for the Mercury CD pressings and SHM-CD is muddy and horrible. The SHM-CD is presented better than the US Mercury pressings, but the source master is still horrible, and this vinyl rip blows them all away, even at just 16/44. It is NOT subtle. Fantastic!

Thank you very much!!!

@luwhuo

I'm interested in the 24bit/192kHz form of the files which I stated originally. I didn't say anything about the master tapes. You're arguing against a point I never made and actually doesn't exist.

I leave it to the uploader to address uploading the original long files or not.

Here's the best sounding rip of this by far! Thank you.

Thank you vinyl splendour

@BarryLyndon

I agree with you man, I would be more interested in the 24/192 version
Posted By: grissyboy Date: 24 Jul 2010 03:18:44
According to all research I have done 24/96 is not superior to 16/44.
It's a myth and the listener hears a difference because one is expected.

Please Repost?

I would kill for a 24/96 of this. It does sound a lot better to my ears! All the original CD masterings are the same and they suck...The remasters suck even more. In any case these links are long dead. :(
