When listening to the album, the question arises: which path has the modern electronic music taken during the last 40 years or so? The colourful mosaic of slight hints and obvious references reveals a tribute to the psychedelic pioneers Pink Floyd, ambient visionary Brian Eno, icon of the alternative pop music Air, or to the sonic impressionists Boards of Canada. Contemporary IDM/glitch scene echoes through it as well, and the listener also comes across the influences of contemporary classical and incidental music. And it is probably the most striking track “Vítám vás” (“Welcome!”) that proves this: it is a variation on the central musical motif of the Czech film “Ball Lightning” (Kulový blesk). The author of the original version is Zdeněk Lukáš. “He virtually entirely composes classical music. As far as I know, he has composed film music only twice, however the Ball Lightning music has truly captivated me. I tried to contact him through his impresario, but I was told that Mr. Lukáš listened to his music only exceptionally at premieres but that he would receive the record,” Dan hopes. Music evolution and mixing of various genres are an inexhaustible source of inspiration, however, despite all the pieces and impulses, the album is compact, original, and open, with a clear concept.

Not mentioning the guests who helped to finalize the album would be considered an offence to be punished. Ladies and children first, so let's start with the ladies. Lindee is a singer with an outstanding sense of improvisation, and the track called "Tout le monde aime l'Air“ seems to have been waiting for its fate embodied in Lindee's gentle, incredibly supple voice. The vocal ornaments of the composition called "Ambivala“ were created by a Swedish singer Nadja Zdeněk Bína, the singer and guitar player of the band called “-123 minut”, is an unbelievable creature, who is able to perform in virtually any music environment with great facility. In this case he had taken part in the composition of the track "RGB Blues“, had recorded the bass lines for other two tracks ("Ambivala“ and "Vítám vás“) and also helped the final track "Fojo Mojo“ to come to light. “This track was composed during one jam afternoon in a very playful mood and we recorded it on the first take. I immediately fell in love with it,” says Dan. The gentle jazz base of the "RGB Blues“ and the accordion featuring in the track "Vítám vás“ were done by Dan's brother Ondřej. Moreover, the Mythematica album would not absolutely do without one of the Orff brothers Matouš Godík aka Matucha aka Zka4T whose album “Polytea”, together with Floex's album “Pocustone”, shook, in positive terms, with the vector of the post-millenium Czech electronic scene development. Matouš's contribution lies in his participation in the production and the final mix and mastering of the album. Daniel Špaček counts on some of these guests to take part in the process of promoting Mythematica from the originally studio activity to the project performing on the stage.

Mythematica opens the gate into a curious world. Into a labyrinth of curious worlds, to be more accurate. And perhaps we will be remembering on this dreamy fairy-tale journey that the time was passing slower and motionless forms coming to life were almost carelessly taken for granted when we were children. Was it not said that the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to children?

The Mythematica album was released in cooperation with Radio 1 91.9 FM by the label Quazi Delict Records on 6th April. The album launch party will be held on 4th May in the Prague club Palác Akropolis.
