Before the Cheech and Chong movies there were the top selling Cheech and Chong comedy albums. Richard “Cheech” Marin and Tommy Chong were the masters of pot head humor in the 1970’s. The duo released nine albums between 1971 and 1985, and their first four are considered classics. Their self-titled debut album features "Dave," one of their most famous routines. The album set in motion a string of top selling albums for the comedy duo that made them household names and eventually catapulted them into movie stars. Released in 1971, it peaked at #28 on the Billboard Top Album charts and stayed in the Top 200 for 64 weeks.

Issued originally on Ode Records (catalog # 77010) in September 1971.

In December 1971 Cheech and Chong issued a Christmas single, "Santa Claus and His Old Lady." It is included on the "Where There's Smoke There's Cheech and Chong" compilation. The track has been included here as a stand-alone .wav file.

This first Cheech and Chong takes me back to Junior High School 1971. Dave's Not Here still cracks me up. Still got the original Ode LP. But a nice clean CD will be appreciated. Thanks for sharing
