“Parc-X trio is an instrumental group focused on original jazz compositions. Founding members, Alex Lefaivre (double-bass) and Gabriel Vinuela-Pelletier (piano) met at University of Montreal during the course of their studies. The pair recruited drummer Mark Nelson (Fieldtrip) in 2008, with whom they recorded their first album.
Since its creation during the summer of 2007, the trio has established itself firmly on the local scene and can be heard regularly at many Montreal venues including L'Assommoir, Bily Kun, Dièse Onze Jazz Club and House of Jazz. The group gave an incredibly well received performance at La Maison de la Culture Villeray-Parc-Enxtension on February 14th 2008. The trio has also performed at a music festival at the Village des Arts de Laval during the summer of 2008 as well as playing at La Maison de la Culture Frontenac on October 16th 2008 as part of its Frontenac Jazz series. Parc-X trio was a semi-finalist in the 2008 edition of Jazz en Rafale. The event was held at the House of Jazz on March 3rd 2008 and was aired live on CIBL radio. In 2008, the group received grants from La Fondation du Maire de Montréal, Emploi-Québec through Les Jeunes Volontaires program as well as FACTOR Young talent demo award. This funding has given them the chance to record their first album in December 2008. The self-titled debut will be officially released in spring 2009.		”
