"Rain" is a song by Mika, it appears on his second studio album The Boy Who Knew Too Much and was released in United Kingdom as the second single. The song was produced and mixed by Greg Wells and features the violinist Owen Pallett. The single was later released in the US and Japan, as when both these markets received "Blame It On The Girls" as their second single, the UK received "Rain". When the UK later received "Blame It On The Girls", the American and Japanese markets received "Rain".

Hubert Kah (Hubert Kemmler) was born on 22 March 1961 in Reutlingen. He is a German singer and songwriter. He was part of the so-called “Neue Deutsche Welle” (new German wave, a trend where in the 1980s German-language songs suddenly became very popular in Germany) with the “Trio Hubert KaH” (Hubert Kemmler: vocals, keyboards, Markus Löhr: guitar, keyboards, Klaus Hirschburger: bass and sometimes Niko Kimmerle: drums). They had success in 1982 with the songs “Rosemarie”, “Sternenhimmel” and “Einmal nur mit Erika (…dieser Welt entflieh’n)”.

It's like playing a Black Sabbath album and showing pictures of the Bee Gees and trying to get someone to believe they are one and the same.

Originating at the turn of the 1980s as a leader of the lite-jazz movement, Everything but the Girl became an unlikely success story more than a decade later, emerging at the vanguard of the fusion between pop and electronica. Founded in 1982 by Hull University students Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt, the duo took their name from a sign placed in the window of a local furniture shop, which claimed "for your bedroom needs, we sell everything but the girl." At the time of their formation, both vocalist Thorn and songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Watt were already signed independently to the Cherry Red label; Thorn was a member of the sublime Marine Girls, while Watt had issued several solo singles and also collaborated with Robert Wyatt.

Sil Austin had his biggest success in an overtly commercial rather than jazz vein, but he regarded Coleman Hawkins, Lester Young and Sonny Stitt as his major influences. He had a big, ripe, blues-inflected tenor sound which was ideally adapted to hard-driving rhythm and blues, but was also highly persuasive on ballads (as on this CD). Phil Collins’s upcoming eighth studio album, titled Going Back, released on 13 September 2010. It will feature covers of 60’s Motown & Soul classics. Best known as the frontman for the Canadian alt-rock band Moist, singer/songwriter David Usher was born was born in Oxford, England on April 24, 1966; raised in Kingston, Ontario, he later studied political science at Vancouver’s Simon Fraser University, where in 1992 he formed Moist with guitarist Mark Makowy and keyboardist Kevin Young.

This project, interpretations of ten songs written by Sting, would not seem to have much potential from a jazz standpoint. But by reharmonizing the tunes and contributing inventive charts for a notable group of jazz players, arranger Bob Belden put together a very memorable set, turning pop material into creative jazz. Belden (who takes a tenor solo on "Children's Crusade") allocated solo space to such players as guitarists John Scofield, John Hart and Fareed Haque, pianists Billy Childs, Benny Green, Joey Calderazzo, Marc Copland and Kevin Hays, trumpeter Tim Hagans, tenors Rick Margitza and Kirk Whalum and altoist Bobby Watson. In addition, there is a vocal apiece by Dianne Reeves ("Wrapped Around Your Finger"), Phil Perry ("Sister Moon"), Mark Ledford ("Every Breath You Take") and Jimi Tunnell ("I Burn for You"), but the emphasis is on jazz improvizing. ~ By Scott Yanow.
