EAC-FLAC(tracks)+CUEs+LOGs - 2,77 GB | Scans - 684 MB | MP3 CBR 320 Kbps - 1,1 GB
Blues / Rhythm & Blues / Rock & Roll | 507:39 minutes | Bear Family Records # BCD 15541 HI

An amazing piece of work -- a massive eight-disc boxed set that contains every one of Fats Domino's 1949-1962 Imperial waxings. That's a tremendous load of one artist, but the legacy of Domino and his partner Dave Bartholomew is so consistently innovative and infectious that it never grows tiresome for a second. From the clarion call of "The Fat Man," Domino's 1949 debut, to the storming "Dance with Mr. Domino" in 1962, he typified everything charming about Crescent City R&B, his Creole patois and boogie-based piano a non-threatening vehicle for the rise of rock & roll. A thick, photo-filled book accompanies the disc, and there's an exhaustive discography that makes sense of Domino's many visits to Cosimo Matassa's studios. If you care about Fats Domino, this is the package for you!

Eight Double CD Volumes | Over than 13 hours of Music | Label: Fremeaux & Associes, France | Catalogue # FA 351-358

Legend would have it that Rock'N'Roll was born in Memphis in 1954 when a young truck-driver by the name Elvis Presley opted to sing "Black Blues" his way. A legend that drastically over-simplifies reality, however, for the roots of Rock'N'Roll are already to be found in the early recordings of Blues, Jazz and Country music of the mid-1920. This collection, created by Gérard Herzhaft, shows that the Rock 'n' Roll was not born with Bill Haley and Elvis Presley but before, the fusion of Rhythm and Blues, Western Swing, Country, Gospel - or the whole of popular music from the early twentieth century. This collection has become indispensable, because the history of interbreeding reveals the crystallization and the formation of gender identity as the history of amplified music...

Slave - Just A Touch Of Love (1979)
EAC 0.99pb5 | FLAC Image | Cue+Log | Full Scans 300dpi | 228MB + 5% Recovery
MP3 CBR 320 Kbps | 88MB + 5% Recovery
Genre: Funk, Soul

Tight bass-heavy funk from Slave – still working here in that excellent compressed style that was their unique contribution to soul music – possibly the best album ever by the Ohio funky soul combo! They may be be handling the vocals with just a bit more focus and care on Just A Touch Of Love than on other albums – which takes to all to a more soulful level, but doesn't spare on the strength of the grooves one bit. They also point the way towards the more club soul styled approach to come in the 80s, but do so firmly grounded in simmering 70s funk. Excellence!

This is a great collection of Doo Wop tunes from back in the day! 587 tracks total. Lots of rare tunes from lots of groups. If you like Doo Wop and you don't have this series, you will want these. As I once read on a Doo Wop site, "Rock and Roll may be here to stay but Doo Wop never left". This series consists of 20 volumes and it is long out of print.

Still the definitive Crystals retrospective nearly a decade after its release, ABKCO's The Best of the Crystals gathers their most beloved singles, including "Uptown," "He's a Rebel," "Da Doo Ron," and "Then He Kissed Me"; the infamous withdrawn single "He Hit Me (It Felt Like a Kiss)"; and relatively obscure songs such as "What a Nice Way to Turn 17," "Look in My Eyes," and "I Wonder."

The Fabulous Fifties (2002) 8 CD 2 Box Set
MP3 320 CBR Kbps - 809Mb | Artwork included
R&B | 2002 Time Life Music | 5% recovery record | Source: Internet

Whenever a label rolls out an extensive set like this one -- one that hones in on a specific era and/or style -- it's usually with the hope that casual music fans will be tricked into thinking that, by its imposing multi-disc nature, it's likely to be definitive. Time Life's four-disc The Fabulous Fifties (a compilation of discs that were also available separately) is hardly the last word on pop music from the decade that birthed rock & roll. Though it does contain a whopping 60 songs, it's far too spotty to function as a one-stop overview.
