Slave - Just A Touch Of Love (1979)
EAC 0.99pb5 | FLAC Image | Cue+Log | Full Scans 300dpi | 228MB + 5% Recovery
MP3 CBR 320 Kbps | 88MB + 5% Recovery
Genre: Funk, Soul

Tight bass-heavy funk from Slave – still working here in that excellent compressed style that was their unique contribution to soul music – possibly the best album ever by the Ohio funky soul combo! They may be be handling the vocals with just a bit more focus and care on Just A Touch Of Love than on other albums – which takes to all to a more soulful level, but doesn't spare on the strength of the grooves one bit. They also point the way towards the more club soul styled approach to come in the 80s, but do so firmly grounded in simmering 70s funk. Excellence!

Still the definitive Crystals retrospective nearly a decade after its release, ABKCO's The Best of the Crystals gathers their most beloved singles, including "Uptown," "He's a Rebel," "Da Doo Ron," and "Then He Kissed Me"; the infamous withdrawn single "He Hit Me (It Felt Like a Kiss)"; and relatively obscure songs such as "What a Nice Way to Turn 17," "Look in My Eyes," and "I Wonder."

The Fabulous Fifties (2002) 8 CD 2 Box Set
MP3 320 CBR Kbps - 809Mb | Artwork included
R&B | 2002 Time Life Music | 5% recovery record | Source: Internet

Whenever a label rolls out an extensive set like this one -- one that hones in on a specific era and/or style -- it's usually with the hope that casual music fans will be tricked into thinking that, by its imposing multi-disc nature, it's likely to be definitive. Time Life's four-disc The Fabulous Fifties (a compilation of discs that were also available separately) is hardly the last word on pop music from the decade that birthed rock & roll. Though it does contain a whopping 60 songs, it's far too spotty to function as a one-stop overview.

Take a visual and audio trip through the rainforest with Merl Saunders and special friend Jerry Garcia on this exclusive DVD presentation. This album is probably not the best representation of Merl Saunders, whose instrument of choice was the Hammond B-3 organ, but it’s a terrific album worth revisiting, and an album whose creator is worth remembering.

Dionne Warwick - How Many Times Can We Say Goodbye (1983) [1st Press W.Germany]
EAC Rip | FLAC Image + Cue + Log | 198 MB | Complete HQ Scans, 600 dpi PNG | 104 MB

In the early '80 Warwick experienced a career renaissance thanks to "Déjà Vu" and her singing to Arista, a label seemed to be more sympathetic to her needs. This 1983 album pairs her with producer Luther Vandross. Vandross, who also produced Aretha Franklin's Jump To It in 1982, is a much better teaming of singer and producer.

Only 12 tracks but some good rare stuff in there Commodores Hirsuite in 'sail on' is a gem and Gloria Gaynors I will Survive is the re-mixed 1994 version not the orginal 79 chart topper.Cameo's 'word up' is in it's full glory including a 'cameo' by Levar Burton as a cop 3 years before he Boarded the Enterprise! The real find on this disc is Womack's 'teardrops' from 1988..hardly legends of soul but a good late '70's to 80's memory refresher which if you are a Video Jock essential other wise for civvies after a viewing is likely to stay on the shelf until the houseparty.
