While Aretha Franklin's "A Change," Ann Peebles' "I'm Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down," and Camille Yarbrough's "Take Yo' Praise" (later immortalized via Fatboy Slim's blockbuster "Praise You") are the marquee attractions here, the real value of the disc is its inclusion of more rare grooves like Marva Whitney's massive "Daddy Don't Know About Sugar Bear," Nikki Giovanni's "Ego Tripping," and Helene Smith's "You Got to Be a Man" -- the whole set's a seamless listen and a worthy addition to what's shaping up to be a great series. : ~ Jason Ankeny
