I'm A Good Woman Vol 3 – Funk Classics From Sassy Soul Sisters (2002)
Soul | MP3 320 kbps | 112 MB | 56 min.

The third volume in this excellent series of rare funky female soul! If you've caught the other volumes, you'll know that the series goes way past the hits to come up with the cream of the crop of deep soul divas – the sort of obscure singers changing hands these days for big bucks on funky 45s, plus a few better known artists, represented here by some of their lesser known funkier work.

01. Jeannie Dee - Two Heads Are Better Than One (2:11)
02. Gladys Knight & The Pips - Got Myself A Good Man (3:03)
03. Barbara Acklin - I Can't Do My Thing (2:31)
04. Mary Jane Hooper - I'm In A Lovin' Groove (3:33)
05. Chaka Khan - Some Love (5:52)
06. Margie Alexander - It Can't Last Forever (2:30)
07. Marie "queenie" Lyons - Your Key Don't Fit It Anymore (2:42)
08. Betty Davis - Shoo-B-Doop And Cop Him (3:56)
09. Marva Whitney - Respect (5:52)
10. The Pointer Sisters - How Long (Betcha' Got A Chick On The Side) (7:23)
11. Anna King - Mama's Got A Bag Of Her Own (2:40)
12. Denise Keeble - Chain On My Thing (2:56)
13. Gloria Edwards - Don't Mess With My Man (2:30)
14. Patrice Rushen - The Hump (5:51)

The third entry in the Harmless label's ongoing I'm a Good Woman series further captures the rise of feminist funk, documenting the transformation from the demure, lovey-dovey soul of the Motown-dominated late '60s to the fierce, take-no-bullsh*t grooves of the early '70s. The titles alone -- Anna King's "Mama's Got a Bag of Her Own," the Pointer Sisters' "How Long (Betcha Got a Chick on the Side)," and Marie Queenie Lyons' "Your Keys Don't Fit Anymore" among them -- speak volumes about the candor and aggression of the performances, and even the love songs reveal an independence and assertiveness that powerfully reflected the rise of both Black Power and women's rights. But sexual politics never get in the way of the music -- it's like they say, free your mind and your ass will follow. : ~ Jason Ankeny

The third in a series of three.
The first two volumes are still available:

It's taken almost five years to collect all three volumes, but perseverance wins the race, as they say. If I'm looking for something on the internet, I always think,"It'll probably turn up one of these days." Nevertheless, I hope other things I'm looking for turn up a bit faster than this one did.

Sorry, I didn't know you were looking for this. I have had a vbr copy for years. I didn't have vol 1 so I just grabbed that and I grabbed this one since yours is a better bit rate. My copy of vol 2 is the same as yours. Thanks for vol 1, and the upgrade on vol 3! Happy New Year!!
