Allmusic.com rating: 4.5 out of 5 Stars Review!
| “ | The resulting freakout became the first half of the stellar Cloud Nine, an album that would become one of the defining early funk sets, with songs that not only took Motown in a new direction, but helped to shape a genre as well. On one side and across three jams, Whitfield and the Temptations would give '70s-era funk musicians a broad palette from which to draw inspiration. - Amy Hanson/AMG | ” |
Cloud Nine is a 1969 album by U.S. musical group The Temptations for the Gordy (Motown) label. The album is a watershed for several reasons. It is the first regular Temptations studio LP to feature Dennis Edwards as the new lead singer, replacing David Ruffin, who was fired in June 1968. In addition, it marks the beginning of the Temptations' four-year delve into psychedelia, recording, at the behest of producer Norman Whitfield, in a fusion genre referred to as "psychedelic soul." The album went to #4 on the Billboard Pop Albums Chart and the group received their first Grammy Award in 1969.

Thank you for all!!!
:)
Our Mister aksman is busy bringing us all these new releases. Thank You.
Bravo!
aksman, you have no idea how much I appreciate this album and the All Directions album. I have 3 copies of each album, all mp3s, trying to get a decent copy. It can't get any better than this. Speakers Corner ripped by a pro with real equipment. Today is a red letter day for sure. I would have loved to get a cd rip in a lossless format. And to think that I am getting an even better copy than that is just unbelievable. I like rock, psyche and lots of other genres but for me it doesn't get better than Motown. And Motown doesn't get better than the Temptations.
thank you aksman, you are the one !
