The two-fer (two albums on one CD) reissues of all of the Capitol era Beach Boys albums in 1990 was a dream come true for Beach Boys fans worldwide. Aside from filling a large void in fans' CD collections, it set a new standard for album reissue campaigns. The liner notes were nearly perfect, with detailed session info, including recording dates and master numbers, previously unpublished photos, commentary from Beach Boys historian David Leaf, and a note about each album from Brian Wilson.

The albums were remastered and repackaged AGAIN and issued in 2001. This is the 2001 HDCD U.S. remaster issued on CD by Capitol Records with complete booklet scans.

This is the second CD in the series featuring the third and fifth Beach Boys albums plus three bonus tracks.

Released in 1963, “Surfer Girl” was the first album to bear the credit “Produced by Brian Wilson.” It was also the last album the band dedicated to the surf craze. Their next album, “Little Deuce Coupe,” celebrated the car craze. Included on this two-fer, their fifth album (1964’s “Shut Down Volume 2”) continued the car theme and was the album debut of rhythm guitarist Al Jardine (replacing David Marks).

Surfer Girl produced by Brian Wilson and released by Capitol Records on September 16, 1963.

Shut Down Volume 2 produced by Brian Wilson and released by Capitol Records on March 2, 1964.

I have downloaded several of these Beach Boys 2fer cds over the years but I didn't have this one. Makes me wonder how many others I'm missing. lol Thanks for the lossless!

There were several albums not in the reissue campaign (Pet Sounds and the Christmas Album). The Captiol reissues are:
Surfin' Safari/Surfin' USA, Surfer Girl/Shut Down Volume 2, Little Deuce Coupe/All Summer Long, Beach Boys Concert/Live in London, Today/Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!!), Beach Boys' Party!/Stack-O-Tracks, Smiley Smile/Wild Honey, and Friends/20/20

The Brother Records two-fers are: Sunflower/Surf's Up, Carl and the Passions-So Tough/Holland, The Beach Boys In Concert, 15 Big Ones/Love You, M.I.U. Album/L.A. (Light Album), Keepin' The Summer Alive/The Beach Boys (1985).

I've have them all and will post them as I can get them done.

Thanks for the info. I compared my downloaded ones to your list and I am still missing 3 on the list. Well, I am missing 2 and a third one I only have a mp3 copy. So what I mean is I will keep an eye out for your post of those 3 titles in addition to this one that I just got from you. I had no idea I was missing so many. I had not researched it to see exactly how many there were and compare my list. Whenever I see one posted, I look to see if I have it or not and go from there. Not much use in me worrying about what isn't posted that I don't have, I just check what is posted against what I do have to see if I need it or not. I would very much like to get all of these 2fer reissues in a lossless format so I will definitely be watching your posts.

I also notice that some of (all of?) the copies that I have don't have the booklet scans. Gotta love those 600dpi jpegs!! I am sure that I'm not the only one here that looks at those and appreciates that you took the time to do all those scans. If I remember correctly, you posted one or two of these Beach Boys 2fers already. I have a good copy of the music because I checked yours against what I already had downloaded but I need to double check the artwork. I probably will need to visit your previous posts and upgrade a little. :)
