| “ | Packaged in a sleeve designed by Hypgnosis, Night Man starts strong with the riff heavy, weekend party action of "Wait Till Saturday", and the thumping six-minute title track. The English quartet go light, with the Queen inspired mellow strains of "Now You're Gone". Stewart's singing hinders the album's ballad, as well as the flip sides slow moving "Armagedon (Song For a Rainbow)". The boys get back to the hard edge with the Deep Purple-ish "Play Dirty", and the punch drunk roller "Too Much Wine". The lumbering "You Got My Soul" carries a hint of Black Sabbath sound. The album's closing track, "Black Diamond", drags on in filler form. Had Dirty Tricks been armed with a competent front man, there may have been hope for the band that never managed to break out big. | ” |
