at hermins: Since nobody else complaints, I assume one of your downloaded rar's is bad. 1st: Put the old to be replaced rar into a separate folder. 2nd: Redownload beginning with part3. 3rd: Once complete compare the md5's or unrar with the remaining old parts & so on.

I have seen problems with rar files getting corrupted many many times in the past, and I have pretty much nailed down the problem. The reason for corrupted files resulting in extraction errors can be blamed on the browser used to download them. Often when one has a RS account, it is very hard, if possible at all, to be satisfied with downloading one file at a time, as they give you the option to get as many as you like. When using Firefox to download, this does not present any problems, as it downloads the temp file right to the destination directory. On the other hand, IE downloads the temp file to the temp folder, and then copies the finished archive to the destination directory when completed. The problem arises when attempting to download 2 or more files at the same time. Often 2 of the files will finish downloading at the same time, and IE will try to copy both to the destination simultaneously. Usually it is with more than 2 that the problem is more apparent. 3, 4, 5, or more files all trying to copy from temp to destination at the same time allows more room for error.

The solution I eventually had to come to was to switch from IE to Firefox. This corrected the problem, and I never had a corrupt rar again. I even pushed the limits to test my theory, downloading upwards of 20 files simultaneously, no problems anymore.

Thank you for this! Been trying to track this down for a while before stumbling upon this (not Stumble Upon, per se, heh). Owned both the original CD release and the Rhino remaster, and neither can touch this for quality! Marvelous!
