The Runaways is a 2010 American biographical film about the 1970s all-girl rock band of the same name. His Soundtrack features classic music from The Runaways, plus Runaways songs performed by Dakota Fanning & Kristen Stewart. Also, music from Joan Jett, David Bowie, The Stooges, MC5 and more. This CD provides pretty good musical continuity besides merely reflecting the film.

Instead of relying solely on the Runaways' music, the soundtrack for the 2010 silver screen adaptation of the band's story splits the difference between the group's contemporaries (David Bowie, Suzi Quatro, the Sex Pistols, and Nick Gilder, whose great "Roxy Roller" kicks off the proceedings) and the group itself, either via original recordings or new cuts with Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart standing in for Cherie Currie and Joan Jett, respectively. It's an effective gambit and goes a long way toward conjuring the sleazy post-glam, pre-punk netherworld of the Runaways, creating a context for their heavy guitar grind. Impressively, the Fanning/Stewart-led recordings more than hold their own with the original Runaways recordings -- they don't plod, they snarl, and they're certainly better than the re-recordings on Jett's near-simultaneously released Greatest Hits collection -- and they help goose The Runaways soundtrack toward being a cracking good time.

>> I usually don't buy Music from a movies unless I really like it. Kristine and Dakota do it well and this music is something to definitely rock with.

>> After listening to this and seeing the movie, I had to break out the rest of my Joan Jett albums. I loved that they kept some of the original Runaways songs along with the Dakota Fanning and Kristin Stewart versions. It let you know how close they got to the vocals, while getting to enjoy what the real singers sounded like. The girls did a great job.

>> Well, much to my horror, the movie does not seem to be destined to win any Oscars, but if you saw it, well then, you KNOW why I ran home from seeing the movie (on opening weekend!) and ordered it from Amazon ASAP. Some people might be a little turned off by Kristin Stewart and Dakota Fanning's versions being included, but you know what? I think it's really interesting to hear the difference between them and Cherie and Joan. I like to play a little game with this CD: I drive along, listening, and I try to guess if it's the actresses or the real Runaways!

I got "Error" notifications when trying to add the Filesonic links to the IDM batch downloader but adding them individually worked fine.
Thanks for this share! The Runaways were hot and Dakota Fanning isn't too bad either!

filesonic links work fine, how do i divide each song in one file?
Posted By: Rehabilly Date: 22 Jan 2012 04:04:56
@smorrissey

Why? For your cellar phone? Then just grab MP3 instead.

... there's a million alternatives. For example - you can do it with EAC

1. Decompess to WAV
2. EAC->Tools->Split WAV by CUE sheet .... Processing ... and you will get a folder with separate WAV files+CUE.

Or do it with Foobar2000

But WHY? - Brrrr, blasphemy!

@Rehabilly, why? well suppose i want to obtain separate itunes plus aac 256k files to use with an ipod.
MP3 are crap dude. My point is not to burn a CD but have a master (from which i can obtain whatever iwant, aac, mp3, etc.) I don't want to convert the entire flac file into a single aac 256k (i want to know where exactly a track starts).

@smorrissey
Well, dude, ... but iPod is bigger crap! :LOL:
