Dear avaxian friends,
my apologies for my silent. I was very busy.

The main goals for this proyect are:
- Honor the great Tom Waits
- That Tom Waits fans can increase/complete their "Tom Waits collection"
- That Tom Waits newbies can know this very creative and exceptional multi-artist.

To all
Advices (for a better avaxian life):

- Everybody is invited to participate in this adventure.
- For preventing doubled uploads please, tell us your offer here before posting.
- If you have got a better-higher-diferent versión of a CD already post, dont hesitate to upload it.
- As usually, I´ll debug and polish the Tom Waits´ page asap. My Time is limited, sorry for potential delays.

...And finally, thanks a lot to everybody for suport, advices, congrats, uploads, patience and tolerance.

Our "Cultural Mall" is more alive than ever. Long live to AvaxHome!

Beer & vodka for everyboy - Cheers!!!

Small Change @320 Kbps in process...
Posted By: Crossfire Date: 07 Oct 2006 23:51:04
Just upped Cold Beer On A Hot Night, VH1 Storytellers, Bounced Checks, One From The Heart, The Black Rider, Beautiful Maladies, Blood Money, and Real Gone. I have a booleg live show from Toronto, called Shadows of Intolerance, but no cover image; it's very hard to find, and no one seems to have any artowrk. It's ripped at 128, which is the best I could find. If someone else gets a hold of it at a better rate, or can find some artowrk, that would be great; it's an awesome performance!
Posted By: bezonk Date: 08 Oct 2006 04:27:07
Small Change @320 Kbps is ready and posted. It should appear soon in the site. This is a great project!
Posted By: estragon1 Date: 08 Oct 2006 14:22:28
There is something wrong with this community spirit...

I am disappointed that most of the publications so far, with some outstanding exceptions, are not for material newly made by the posters, from the original disks, but just already existing material from the web; so most of the effort so far, lies in RS-uploading and publishing here (probably waiting for RS points).

Not to mention that all this bootleg /unofficial material lies in free ftp servers, whose addresses I thought the poster OUGHT TO provide, in order to honour those who really did the original work (I will, as soon as I find them).

It's not bad to re-upload material that one got from the net once... What is bad -my personal opinion- is not to mention that it is such (i.e., to say that it is not her/his rip), and not mention the original source when it is known.

So, thank you to those who deserve it, and "I will pass" to the "recyclers".
Posted By: Hungry Mind Date: 08 Oct 2006 19:39:01

@ stragon1: Why do not stop of moaning and start to post something of your 30 GB TW´s stuff?

I dont knew that
1- AvaxHome was a place where rippers expect "collecting medals" ;-)
2- AvaxHome only accept "first hand" stuff.

Well I promiss you to read Avax´s FAQs again :), But please, promise me, in return, to read the 3 main goals of this proyect that I mention above ;-)

Regards

PS: I sadly know, that complainers are alwais welcome in this unhappy and cruel world, but I dont go to waste my time with they anymore. Sorry. In any case I strongly prefer a recycler than profesional moaner.

Posted By: estragon1 Date: 10 Oct 2006 11:45:24
thx a lot, peetje, for the original effort of HQ ripping, tagging and offering.

As for Avax FAQ, Hungry Mind, it clearly talks about "To ensure quality, our moderators will refuse publishing music albums with 128 Kbps (or less, like mp3pro) bitrate in most cases - share it only as addition to an posted album with higher quality. Exceptions should be only historic recordings or rare recordings (bootlegs) not available at good quality" and it clearly talks about "reprinting of materials from other sites without providing links to the source". So I am not the one who should be reading the FAQ... Unless you call official discography rare...

As for myself I prefer to buy the music of artists I adore, of living artists in general, especially when they are not in big record companies. I don't want to give money for dead artists material, because it either goes to companies or to relatives, both of which don't deserve it or need it. I have all Tom Waits official material in CDs or vinyl, and it is for vinyl material that I don't want to re-buy it as CD, and I am looking for as high Quality rips.

The best source for the unofficial material has been the ftp at 65 96 165 74. The guy who runs it is great! i have had all the patience to download it all (and stuff still is being added from time to time) with no more than 40KB/sec. Do you need a file list of the 31GB material from there? So all real TW fans can start downloading, keeping away from traders, and avoiding RS as well.

Finally, my favorite unofficial web resources for Tom Waits:

Tom Waits Supplement
www.keeslau. com/TomWaitsSupplement/

Tom Waits Russian Fans
tom-waits. spb.ru/english/

The Eyeball Kid
eyeballkid.blogspot. com/

Tom Waits Miscellania (I 've lost him lately)
www.front. net/gtausch/waits.html

And some food for thought: www.negativland. com/albini.html

If I had the time and the resources I would certainly re-up material to keep the ftp server less stressed. But neither all of us have great bandwidth and high speed machines, nor all our live is in front of a computer

Cheers!

Peetje: AvaxHome should not be the same without you. Tons of thanks. I guess now "lossless sybarites" will be happier with the new upgrades (and the rarities sybarites too).

Posted By: Hungry Mind Date: 10 Oct 2006 22:40:20

Estragon1: I´m glad that your last message is much more positive (everybody can criticize, but making things is much more difficult).
At the same time, I hope that if you have enough time and resources for downloading you will have enough time and resources for uploading ;-)

You are welcome

Here is something to share for the Tom Wait fans

it's just a single but i like it very much

She is dutch, and very populair :-)
And This is a song from her album Urban Solitude
Also a Great Album, that i will post this week on Avaxhome

Anouk - Tom Waits

http://rapidshare.de/files/36475391/anouk_-_06.tom_waits.rar.html

and here is the songtekst

I was dreaming last night
A figment of my brain
On the downtown train
And we had nowhere to go

So we got off to take a walk
In the pouring rain
You said you rode it once
And you would ride it again
Please take me with you

Tom waits for the morning train
To take us away
Me and Mr. Tom Waits
Can't wait no more

I'm wrapped around your finger
Two fingers on my lips
No need to speak
Cause it's all in our eyes

When they turned out the lights
They gave us one for the road
We headed for the tracks
And never looked back
This could never be real

Tom waits for the morning train
To take us away
Me and Mr. Tom Waits
Can't wait no more
Can't wait no more
On the downtown train

Bad news friends. Many files have been erased
Posted By: peetje Date: 14 Oct 2006 09:48:02
i will fix my uploads today . please be patient
Posted By: peetje Date: 14 Oct 2006 10:32:01
i become a little tired lately, rapidshare deletes very fast when someone sending complaints
it happens when "friendly" leechers using the links on other sites
to lazy to upload them by themself
even the older uploads from alexpal are deleted :-(

so i deside to use another server for the Tom Waits Uploads, megauplaod which is not so bad and the last moths faster then it ever was, I hope they survive there longer

Posted By: Hungry Mind Date: 14 Oct 2006 17:46:20

(No words) :-((

Posted By: peetje Date: 15 Oct 2006 02:26:31
yes indeed :-(

ok, i fixed all my uploads today
I can also do some other reups (if that is alright)
perhaps the best way is to put the mirrors just as a comment in the older publucations witch are deleted...i don't think that is a problem,
then you don't have to change the links in the project
and we can keep Tom Waits alive on AvaxHome :-)

Interesting, I am going to his concert mid-November. Thanks for the post, and yes, RapidShare is probably good for a few others too.

Cheers!

@all

i have some reuploads for the tom waits project, but i am afraid when to post them again.. they are gonna be deleted again in half a day.

it's a real problem at the moment
i even tried to post a few albums with a new registrated name
but also deleted :-((
ALmost all rapidshare and even the megauplaods are down

people who are really intrested in these albums can ask for it in a pm
then i will send the links
i saw jozzie is doing the same in her project and i think for the moment this is the safest way to keep this project and the files alive
I hope this is alright

groetjes petra

some people have understood my method, as well. I can see plenty of downloads in my RS account
Posted By: Hungry Mind Date: 06 Nov 2006 22:04:21

Avaxians:

Your ideas for avoiding new deletions can be good, but don´t forget that the guy devoted to erase the files is reading your messages too ;-)

of course, (s)he is! Traders, lawyers and trolls, though, never have been known for their sharpness ;-)

Tom Waits at the Hammersmith Apollo, London, 23 November 2004 is posted, for the salvation of all raindog souls, despite the problems with trolls at RS and MU.

People, I am not interested in points. I am only interested in sharing staying alive on http/ftp. So, any of you may re upload the stuff anywhere, but, plz, repackage under different filenames, so that the initial source doesn't get reported.

For those who prefer to yield and shout and swear: use your bloody brains, check a couple of my previous publications' comments and you shall be rewarded. I just don't want to make it too easy for the trolls.

Army Ants... What a song!!!

I suppose, Holly Cole's live CD It Happened One Night, from 1996, fits in this list, too. Enjoy her!

I went to three stores today hoping to nab a copy of Tom Waits' much praised new cd triple-set, "Orphans", but they were sold out---on release-day! I understand this is a limited-edition release, but I never dreamed I wouldn't be able to buy myself a copy already! Let's hope the stores I went to (Futureshop had it for $38.99 CAD) get their stocking issues sorted out.
Posted By: estragon1 Date: 22 Nov 2006 21:42:12
got mine at cduniverse.com for $34.99
Posted By: jonmall Date: 24 Nov 2006 09:28:10
cduniverse: $34.99 + $4.99 shipping = $39.98 USD! ;)
Posted By: estragon1 Date: 25 Nov 2006 01:46:27
i am only pointing at the fact of managing to get a copy. Postage is always lowered if you buy a couple of more disks anyway... Anyway, you talk about canadian dollars...

Tom Waits toured in U.S. in August and September ahead of his Orphans release. Be fast to grab the recording of his concert in Memphis. Enjoy!

@ALL

after a very loong and busy morning, we can tell you, that the "Tom Waits"-project, which was about 95% dead, is fixed now nearly complete.

Have much fun with the "reanimated" project

P.S.: This "action" should be a kind of help for the "Tom Waits-Project" from the "Van Morrison-Project", which (with some luck) since now had no need to fix anything.

Nice, that you followed our example doing "re-animation" of your part of the project :-)
