DVD-Audio Explorer 2008.07.21 (Beta 3) and How To Use It
2008 | RS | 4.8 MB
2008 | RS | 4.8 MB
Includes User Manual in htm format, source code for DVDAExplorer, and helper app 4C12bit that detects watermarks.
Quick How-To (using only freeware apps):
First of all, if the disc doesnt have this logo on it:
it will not work, dont waste your time.
If it does have it, then put the disc in and run DVDAExplorer. Do File -> Open, and choose the AUDIO_TS.IFO file in the AUDIO_TS folder. Do File -> Select All to choose all the tracks. Do File -> Extract to rip the tracks and choose the Store method, we will convert mlp to wav later. DVDAExplorer will do it and let you know when finished.
You can use your favorite renamer to give the mlp files more meaningful names if you want.
Using Batchenc, do "eac3to <infile> <outfile.wav>" to convert 2ch mlp to wav OR "eac3to <infile> <outfile.wav> -down2" to convert multi-chan mlp to 2ch wav.
Using Batchenc, do "wavpack -hhmx6 <infile> <outfile.wv>" to convert hi-res wav to wv.
If you want to downsample or downconvert to make a cd version, and you cant afford weiss saracon src (best results but very expensive), i recommend eac3to and SoX.
Using Batchenc, do "eac3to <infile> <outfile.wav> -resampleTo44100" to get 24bit 44.1khz wav files, and then:
Using Batchenc, do "sox -V3 <infile> -b 16 <outfile.wav> dither -f low-shibata" to get 16bit 44.1khz for redbook audio cd wav files. Both programs at those settings have good results. If you do make redbook copies, please run TT Dynamic Range Offline Meter on the folder of 16bit 44.1khz wav files so we may know what side of the loudness war the dvda is on.
