Please excuse all the comments; it looked like nothing was happening, then all of a sudden, all those clicks got posted. Anyway, what do you do when your anti-virus program reports a Trojan? Do you simply ignore it and install it anyway? Was it a false positive? I don't know, but hey! if you really want to install this program, go ahead. For me, the risk is too great. Now I see abifar has reported a Trojan too. But you can just ignore this if you like, it's entirely up to you.

Alternative way:
1.Download Mathtype from http://www.dessci.com/en/products/mathtype/
2. Use First name, Last name and product key from the picture above, that is
First name: tam/CORE
Last name: adadf
Organization: anything will work
Product key: MTWE601-011044-FGEJ1

Well, well, well... it seems that there are some guys out there that does not understand even the difference between the Mac OS platform and the Winbugs one. May be they are paid by the developers to promote its product at any place, regardless the audience. After the developer's site, for the MathType utility...

System Requirements

MathType 6 for Windows:
Microsoft Windows Vista, XP, and 2000.

10 MB free hard disk space.

MathType will run on any Windows computer. MathType is not RAM-intensive so listing its requirements is not necessary.

CD-ROM for installation (not required if product is downloaded via the Internet).

MathType does not require Microsoft Office or Microsoft Word. However, it adds a MathType ribbon to Word and PowerPoint 2007, and a MathType toolbar and menu to Word 2003, 2002 (XP) and 2000.

Then, it seems that's crystal clear: MathType IN NOT A MAC OS APPLICATION!.
