Все вокруг нас поразительно быстро изменяется. Сегодня даже то, что раньше было весьма абстрактно и на первый взгляд незаметно, стремится обрести формы, стремясь привлечь наше внимание.
Вот тезаурус английского языка, структура которого представлена в графическом виде. В его основе лежит т.н. WordNet, очень интересное явление само по себе.



Посмотрите, какие красивые деревья умеет рисовать это замечательное приложение - 2-мерные, 3-мерные. Весьма вероятно, в будущем даже 4-мерные сможет изображать, раскрывая нам историю развития языка :)
Словарь полезен и интересен как изучающим язык, так и исследователям. Рекомендую. Увлекательно. Познавательно.

Не успел я нажать кнопочку "Опубликовать", как мне прислали уже 3-ю версию, на получение которой даже не надеялся, ибо вышла она совсем недавно, а ко 2-й достать лекарство было крайне трудно.

А вот и новая версия (Link to VT3!).
Ничего существенно нового в ней, на самом деле, нет, кроме некоторого косметического улучшения интерфейса, добавления каких-то левых матерных тезаурусов и абсолютно лишней, на мой взгляд, способности произносить слова, для чего обязательно нужен выход в инет. Поэтому обновлять новость, или добавлять новую не буду. Ведь верно? :)
За данный релиз на этот раз нужно благодарить liikuri (ру-борд). Меня - за перепаковку с помощью 7-zip и экономию 10 мегабайт вашего трафика (ничего не исключая), что, как мне кажется, существенно.

Да, дизайн очень приятный. Путешествия по "сети" тезауруса весьма увлекательны. Благодаря той плавности, с которой открываются новые узлы сети, появляется даже какой-то релаксационный эффект.
Жаль, конечно, что в 3-мерном режиме она "ест" слишком много ресурсов, однако гибкие настройки позволяют оптимизировать быстродействие для конкретной машины.

I am glad you like it. The app is really great. Beautiful design, lines slowly gliding. It is relaxing. You could meditate on it :) Of course there is a good possibility to contemplate the structure of the thesaurus itself and to think about the nature of language and other things :)
I'd even say it deserves to be bought.

Yes On the site of VT, it is mentioned beta versions in several other languages (dutch, french, german, spanish & italian).

it is so great in English but it could be also in other languages as well useful and educative.
