If there was colour cinema to show his movies at the time don't you think he would have shot it in colour?!?. When he shot the scenes, he saw everything in colour - people didn't have black and white vision in 1946, but I suspect you know that first hand. Look Ansel Adams has his place, but this is a wonderful idea (YOU can still enjoy it in BW if you prefer, but keep it to yourself OK). On the same BW to colour theme I recommend the History Channels WWII in HD colour - that's right COLOUR. Somehow it just brings it all to life like never before & doesn't seem sort of hazy & abstract anymore to me, as it was just a little before my journey began.
Anyway this is one of my wifes favs. Man 4.5GB's...! but she's gonna LOVE it!...
