This DVD set contains the original pilot episode "Tomkinsons Schooldays" first broadcast in 1976. The first series of 5 episodes broadcast in 1977 and the second series of 3 episodes originally broadcast in 1979.
The idea was prompted by an old Ripping Yarns annual that Michael Palin had given to Terry Jones as a gift. The episodes are all Pythonesque with many great moments in nearly all the episodes. John Cleese makes a memorable, but brief, cameo role appearance in "Golden Gordon" which is amongst the best episodes.
There are some great extras on the DVD. Perhaps best of all you can watch the episodes without the laughter track. There are commentaries from Michael Palin and Terry Jones as well as a documentary made in 1982 and an additional 1973 comedy starring Warren Mitchell written by MP and TJ.

Very funny and well worth watching over and over.

Also, is the the U.S. NTSC version, or the UK PAL version? And are these original untouched DVD5s or dual layer DVD9 discs compressed to fit on a DVD5?

1) by rightclicking the images on the post you can save the scans
2) if you had anaged to do the above you will be able to see that it is a region 2 PAL DVD
3) by reading the above you would see that it is 8.8GB - try fitting that on a DVD5
4) Need I go on

It seems like these are compressed DVD9’s:
circa 3 hours of video at average bit rate > 4.50 Mb/sec makes much more than 4.35 Gb.

These were two DVD 9 discs, which I borrowed from a friend, in order to copy them for myself I used DVD-Shrink to reduce them to DVD5 size, I also scanned the covers at 300dpi, and took the pdfs of the scripts off the DVD as well. The ISO files were then put into a rar archive and posted to Rapidshare, If anybody would like the full DVD9 version I would suggest Amazon as it is still available there if not just sit back and enjoy.

I planning to put up the complete Comic Strip in the future 9DVDs coming in a a hefty 38Gb, PM me if you would prefer it in one block or as individual discs
