Breathe In, Breathe Out (2004)

Breathe In, Breathe Out (Sinkokyu no Hitsuyo, literally: The Necessity of Deep Breathing) is a film by Tetsuo Shinohara, whose previous effort Tengoku no Honya was a romantic hit. This time he recruited popular model Karina to star in her debut role, Azumi's Narimiya Hiroki, Sky High the Movie's Tanihara Shosuke, and Nagasawa Masami. With a cast of bright up-and-coming actors, this coming-of-age tale is set to be equally moving as Tetsuo's previous work!

Five young adults arrive at a small island in the Okinawan archipelago to do some seasonal work. They are recruited to help an elderly couple and their old hand to harvest a field of 70,000 sugarcane stalks in 35 days. As the days pass and it seems impossible for these young people to complete the job at hand, a former neighbor of the elderly couple appears to lend an inspirational hand…...
