Drama | Optional subtitles: English

A bored Parisian rake starts a half-hearted affair with a beautiful and naïve girl met in the street. She is extremely secretive about herself, to the extent of concealing even her name. This, contrasted with her submissiveness, gets on his nerves and makes him behave more and more erratically until he realises he must be in love with her. But by that time a third party makes an unexpected entrance and turns the affair into a tortured love triangle.

Loosely based on a novel by Honore de Balzac, a skirt-chasing fashion photographer meets a charming young woman who captures his interest immediately. She is not wholly forthcoming, but after a period of time, he realizes that he is in love with her -- she is not just another conquest. It takes awhile before he also realizes that she is the partner of his femme associate who is possessive, at the very least. As it turns out, one corner in this odd triangle is highly unstable. This was one of the early films of Françoise Dorleac, Catherine Deneuve's beautiful sister who was killed in an automobile accident in 1967.

It's strange you don't give French (or link) description for a French movie?
Posted By: aleutian Date: 21 Apr 2009 16:39:21
It's even stranger that you fancy yourself an Avax vigilante and constantly butt into other peoples' publications.

It's incredible to post a normal comment and to be insulted!!! If you think all the world is english continue like that ... and stay pretentious. Cinema is international ... France is a great participant (you post one of his well known movie) so keep humble instead of stupid :-)

Here is French description for instance --> http://dvdtoile.com/Film.php?id=10448

Incredible members are present here :-) :-) life will rule you man ... to get more brain ...

***edit*** thx to Pasha to have deleted the end of the desperate precedent comment about frenchies-xenophobia. If you like original languages (french too) just visit my blog or Scalisto, or FNB47 or Rest77 ... a lot of serious (and polite) members give avax a splendid image of the world 7th art :-)

thnx for the film, as an admirer of the french cinema, I welcome every french post but unfortunately with eng subs, 'cause let's be honest, eng is more spoken, even though I would like to speak french

You're not very nice aleutian...
We have exactly le same problem in france : we have stupid people like you.
What can we do with them ?!..
Posted By: aleutian Date: 22 Apr 2009 13:52:16
Thank you all for the (mostly) nice comments.
@Tingus:
1. I never claimed to be nice.
2. I may be stupid, but at least I'm not a dimwit who uploads dubbed movies for other dimwits.
3. Keep them away from Avax, or just from my publications.

@galmuchet:
So, do we need Japanese descriptions for Japanese films now? I don't follow the logic.....if one posts, say, a Criterion dvd of a French film, one must find information in French? As an English speaker I don't complain about the many French films posted here without English subtitles, much as I would like to have them......I accept and respect the choice of the contributor. If you believe information should be provided in French, why not post it as a comment?
