Born in the Highlands of Scotland in 1518, Connor Macleod is immortal. When he is wounded in battle but does not die, he is banished from his village. He meets another like himself, Ramirez, who teaches him swordsmanship--the only way to kill another immortal is to take his head--and the ways of the immortals. Modern-day New York is the location of "The Gathering," where Connor and the few remaining immortals must battle to the last for "The Prize."

| “ | The good versus evil theme must be the most overdone theme in movies besides maybe love conquers all. The best you can hope for in a movie that uses one of these themes is for the presentation to be original. Highlander's plot is one of the most original ever filmed. It tells the story of a group of immortals battling to the death, until there is only one left alive. This one will win 'the prize'. The prize being the power of all the other immortals combined. The plot centers on Conner McLeod, an immortal born in the highlands of Scotland during the 15th century. He is 'killed' during a battle with another clan and driven from his village when he mysteriously recovers. After a few years, another immortal, Juan Rameriz (played by Sean Connery) trains him to fight and teaches him the rules of fighting other immortals. The war between the immortals continues through the centuries, until the final battle in modern day New York where the bulk of the film takes place. Director Russell Mulcahey, known until this point for his music videos, does a tremendous job on this film. His transition shots between modern day and the historical flashbacks are both original and ingenious. His directing, the action, and the soundtrack by Queen, keeps this movie flying along. Although Christopher Lambert is the star, Clancy Brown nearly steals the movie as the evil immortal, Victor Kruger. His towering presence is truly menacing as he gleefully terrorizes Conner through the streets of New York. The movies only weakness is the love story between Conner and Brenda. It seems contrived. Tacked onto the plot, it provides a female character and a gratuitous sex scene. Highlander is a highly original, in concept at least, movie with an over the top villain, incredible visuals, and a soundtrack by one of the best rock bands ever. | ” |
| “ | I didn't get this film at first audition. I thought the acting wasn't great. But something about the film kept pulling me in. When I watched it again I fell in love with the movie. Its full of romance, heroism and over all loss. A very involving and emotional film. The Queen song "Who wants to live forever" never fails to stir emotions. The battle scenes are also very good. What also makes the film work is the casting. The Highlanders all look very brave and fearless not to mention scarred. Also the costumes are fantastic. I'm mo expert on the exact clothing for Highlanders in the 16th century, but they looked pretty good to me. I had no real feelings about Scotland before I watched this film, But after the film got under my skin it was the next place I visited. I was amazed to find that there really is a Glen Finnan on the shore of Loch Sheil. And I can say first hand that it is a truly historicaly magical place. IMDB Reviewer | ” |

Be well.
Does that mean all those previous links to movies are gone for good?
I am absolutely gutted. What with things the way they are with filesonic and f'serve, I thought
I'd really better have a look back at some of your posts from mid-last year and oh, my, god, were
there so many classics I haven't yet seen, so I started to bookmark them and try to begin
downloading some.
It's a bit difficult as my broadband isn't very fast, but I was getting a few, but I had quite
a few bookmarked, and checked a link on them to check they were up. Yesterday, up to a point, they
were, and I had about twenty that I was due to start getting today. Now they're gone.
Damn.
Are they gone for good, or if fileserve/filesonic came back to their senses would those links be
working again?
This is sickening as a lot of your previous shares are just not elsewhere to your quality; really,
really sad, for me and others.
If you ever consider accepting requests I would really appreciate you letting me/us know in
some capacity. I'm not going to ask without you(or any other poster saying it's okay to)stating
you don't mind as you already do so much.
Worrying times. I have been reading a lot today about this ACTA bill currently in the final stages
of being passed in europe, and I don't think we are going to be able to do this for much longer.
The megaupload event is a one-off I believe, at least for now. Filesonic and f'serve have simply
panicked but the net result is that whole swathes of previous shares are now unavailable.
.
Most glaringly being yours. I'm aware there are other places on the net(!)to look for films, but I
have only ever come here, and now it's becoming a wasteland.
Bugger.
Anyway, someonelse, you're still here so for now all is not lost. Many thanks.
Be well.
Thanks for your continuing efforts Someonelse,it is indeed a blessing to have you, especially in these crazy times!
I had 6 premiums: fsonic, fserve, wupload, uploadstation, filejungle and filepost. Now all has gone :(
Now I use new account on fpost, but who has deleted once - delete again... So I don't trust them :)
EDIT! Looks like wupload really deleted all files.... Sorry
It's just such a shame. Sorry for all the effort you have put into sharing all those
movies, just to see 'em all gone.
.
There are many, many reasons why folks come here to get ... whatever it is they find.
So many things, but especially movies from anywhere between the 20's and 80's, are
effectively gone from being available for people to see, and that's before we even
get to arthouse/world cinema films and also, how many of us will EVER get to see any
of them, ever. Could we afford to seek out and buy even a handful? Laughable.
I can barely afford to eat and heat my home, but heck, my words here are just words
to the wind.
Really am sorry someonelse to see all your time and effort just 'deleted' away like
that; must be very discouraging and frustrating. Still, always know that what you, or
stillafool, or kaktusfeige, or, or, .... many others do here does genuinely give a lot
of folks a genuine chink of light in their day-to-day lives that they can hold onto.
.
Is it so awful a crime, this sharing of media which gives so many such simple, direct
pleasure?
Yes, in today's world it is. You want to show anyone you know where we are and what
world we have come to live in, go show them 'Brazil' by Terry Gilliam.
We live in that world NOW.
THEY don't want anybody out there to feel happiness, individuality or freedom in any
part of their lives.
.
Please excuse my rant; I didn't mean to. Just very sad with where we are headed, no,
where we are.
Be well Someonelse.
filepost links are dead
French (select in film) ?
But No subtitles French ???
Be well Someonelse.
