Sci-fi horror and surreal black comedy conjoins the concepts of Frankenstein, Metropolis and Nikita in the bizarre exploits of a young schoolgirl who is brutally killed by her teacher. In the process of life and technology, they are both interwoven to reincarnate her into the ever-vengeful cyborg in a tragic woe of an ever-increasing killing spree.

IMDB

Killing Machine is one of those movies that never quite lives up to the insanity of its plot synopsis. The story is invitingly nuts: A high school nymph (Lee So-yun) earns extracurricular money by hooking with the faculty then falls into a brief relationship with one maniacal teacher (Kim Dae-tong) who rapes her, impregnates her, shoots her, mutilates her, hires a super-seamstress to stitch her back together, then turns her into a robot assassin. Trimmed of the excess footage showing the victim/vigilante standing/staring or running through poorly lit interiors, director Nam Gee-wong's Killing Machine would've probably run a zanily enjoyable half-hour. As is, this artsy exercise in cyberpunk surrealism runs closer to an hour. That means you often have to wait through stretches of filler to get to the weird imagery like a post-op fembot's gunblasted breast leaking green goo and gnarly wires or a Metropolis-inspired rebirth during which thick electric cords pump new life into the recently dismembered girl.

I guess the film can't really be accused of misleading with its title, for the basic plot does indeed feature a teenage hooker (played by Korean cutie So-yun Lee) who becomes a killing machine, but there's much more to this weird effort than a simple revenge tale. Before the high-school prostitute turns deadly, viewers must endure a whacked-out romance between the girl and her freaky teacher (who sports Bo-selecta style prosthetic make-up), impromptu dancing, a foetus suspended at the end of a twenty foot umbilical cord, and a pair of extremely irritating giggling maniacs, all of which is shot with a cheap SOV aesthetic (ie., terrible quality image and lots of experimental lighting). This all sounds rather cool, but is actually pretty dreary, making this one strictly for fans of confusing avant-garde/surreal nonsense.

Bizarre mess from Korea that starts as surreal exploitation with a hooker who gives specials in back alleys and meets up with her angry mutant teacher after waking up his grandmother. They perform a strange dance, then she is killed by some giggling loons, is turned into a killing robot, goes through some scenes ripped out of Nikita, then comes back for revenge with a mechanical penis. Boasts distorting and colourful cinematography, but it isn't as fun as it sounds.
