Genre: Documentary

A documentary by Mike Wilson.
From Michael Moore's hometown of Flint, Michigan to the movie-making capital of the United States, director Mike Wilson's inflammatory documentary travels across the country to hold the controversial Sicko director's allegedly questionable tactics up to the light for closer examination. Wilson is a filmmaker who wants viewers to question what they see and hear in the media, and he's willing to travel thousands of miles in order to highlight why you too should remain skeptical about Moore's motivations as a filmmaker. The result is a meditation on the American Dream, and the manner in which diligence and determination can eventually pay off for the folks who aren't willing to let their dreams fade. Additionally, by speaking with such well known media figures as Penn Jilette and John Stossel as well as a host of highly respected scholars, Wilson highlights how Moore manipulates interviews and statistics to serve his own personal agenda. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

I was expecting something a lot better, to be honest. It doesn't reveal anything new about Moore at all (we all know what a hypocrite that man is).

meh.

I agree it has its faults - but it definitely shows him to be the manipulative coward that he is. Sure, it doesn't reveal anything new to you or me - but to his blind followers it may suggest he is not all that his publicity image presents.

But if one were being cynical, one could argue that all people who operate in the public sphere are in the business of presenting a public image that may or may not be aligned with reality.

MMogg you got a good point there ~ but you we don't have to be cynical with 'life', just sceptical.

MMogg - that's absolutely corrct of course - but not the point. The point is, Moore presents OTHER people's lives (e.g. Charlton Heston, the people in the bank who he presented as having given him a gun, the veteren who lost both arms in the middle East) - and so-called historical fact - as 'not aligned with reality' and misrepresents them, with clever editing. Then, in this film when he is asked to account for this (by having an interview with Wilson) he says "I only appear in my own films" and turns chicken. The guy is a deceiptful coward.

I'm sure his documentaries are bollocks because he is so fat.

FIFTY MILLION DOLLARS.
That is what Michale Moore is worth. It is also why Michael Moore does what he does. He is not a Crusader, speaking truth to power. Rather, he is a capitalist, selling people whatever poison they desire.

You don't make FIFTY MILLION DOLLARS by telling new, unpleasant truths. You make it by selling people what they demand. If they demand dirt on America or on American conservatives, Moore knows they will be willing to pay for whatever dirt he can invent.

I've only seen Bowling for Columbine so far but I'd say that it was well done and did not come across as being too one-sided. Or at least - if I recall correctly - where it was partisan and one-sided it was so patently obvious that I didn't these parts as being serious.

@ zodiac111: Hahaha! "Not one-sided!" Like the completely fabricated scene of a bank giving away a gun with a bank account on the premises! And the re-edited clips of Charlton Heston taken from different speeches and stuck together out of context. Yeah, not one-sided at all - just bullshit. I think Michael Moore is possibly Al Gore in a mask and crappy stuck-on beard, he's so full of shit. ;)
