Renowned French director François Truffaut is at the top of his form in this whimsical, lively story about an eccentric casanova who loves every woman he meets -literally! Irresistibly charming and witty, this playful romantic comedy is heartwarming, hilarious and highly entertaining! (-DVD cover)

Bertrand Morane (Charles Denner) is a ladies' man like no other. Wholly obsessed with the female species, he goes to outrageous lengths for the prospect of a fleeting romantic encounter. But when he documents all of his passionate flings in a racy autobiography, he piques the interest -both personally and professionally- of a beautiful and provocative editor named Geneviève (Brigitte Fossey). And as the two begin to play the game of proverbial predator and pray, Bertrand is surprised to discover that he might just be the one who gets trapped... by true love! (-DVD cover)

Many women are attending Bertrand Morane's burial. They are all the ones that 40 years old engineer loved. Flashback : Bertrand's life and love affairs, told by himself while writing an autobiographical novel. A film about the love relationships, the need to charm and the literary creation. (http://imdb.com/title/tt0076155/plotsummary)

The first image sets the scene very clearly : Bertrand Morane's burial attended only by women. No guys in the funeral procession. Twenty or so lovely middle-aged females are following their (former) lover's last trip. One of them, Brigitte Fossey, Bertrand's last girlfriend, comments, from backstage, on this unusual situation and explains, incidentally, what the film 's gonna be : a flashback to Bertrand's life. How does she happen to know about it ? Thanks to Bertrand's book she has recently edited for him and called "The man who loved women" (passed tense works here as a premonition). The author describes his passion for women and focuses on some of them. Inspired directly from the Bertrand's life (and from the director's life as well), his narrative is informal, genuine, sometimes contradictory but never pedantic nor rude. lang or saura? ( my guess :-)

and I can sense Rocco and Hiroshima coming soon... :-)))
Posted By: FNB47 Date: 28 Mar 2007 11:12:37

kharmok, Resnais' Hiroshima was posted by galmuchet last year. It was deleted from RS shortly after his upload. I dont know if he re-uploaded or not...
Yes, Rocco is on the way :)) (but not Siffredi unfortunately :))
I am looking for Saura's "La Caza (1966)", if I could find, it would be first of Saura.

Hey FNB. I'm also a grateful fan of your posts here at avaxhome. and i happen to have a dvdrip of Saura's La Caza (among other old Saura films), but without any subtitles, just the original spanish audio track. Please reply if it is useful for you this way and i'll upload it.
Posted By: FNB47 Date: 04 Apr 2007 22:18:46

seventh_art, thanks for your concern. I've seen Saura's La Caza once at a theatre and once on a local TV, so I know the movie and I liked it much. I'd love to have it, even I dont speak Spanish at all. If it wouldnt be a big trouble for you pls upload it and publish it on Avax pages. Thanks a lot indeed. :)

seventh_art,

yes please, we need Saura :-))) I've only got Cria Cuervos, and I've seen some of his 70ies films and liked them a lot! Your Saura posts would be greatly appreciated, with or without subtitles!

Well, La Caza (The Hunt, 1966) in a nice DVDRip is on its way up through RS.com. I hope to be done with the upload by this weekend, since my bandwidth isnt that great. Regarding other Saura films, I only have La Prima Angelica (again, no subs since I can understand spanish perfectly), which is thought to be his masterpiece, but this video is bigger than 1 GB, so it may be too big for my limited upload possibilities (La Caza is just about 670 MB since it is a short, 83 min, film)

Thank you very much seventh_art. No need to hurry... feel free to upload and post them... whenever you feel like it :)

I've never seen "La Prima Angelica". But I am also looking for another 2 of my Saura favorites:
- Deprisa, deprisa
- Elisa, vida mía

I hope someone have them and will take the trouble to upload them.

Posted By: seventh_art Date: 06 Apr 2007 04:17:30
La Caza has already been uploaded by me. I'm taking my time to read this site's rules and post it correctly. There seems to be plenty of rules to follow in order to get anything published here, and i dont want to get this one rejected.
I'll upload La Prima Angelica if i can find english subtitles for it. Regarding Elisa and Deprisa, I dont have any of them right now, but i may search for them. Sadly, one can hardly find subtitles for a spanish movie if the director isnt Almodovar or Amenabar.
