A magical, musical fairytale about a wandering minstrel whose poverty prevents him from marrying his beloved. So, instead, he roams the countryside, singing for his supper, and delighting children and commonfolk everywhere. Although the powerful try to persecute and control him, Ashik remains safe, watched over by loving guardian angels... until he can finally return home to his love once again.

Sergei Paradjanov is well-known for his stylized, dancelike and symbolic films. Because of his deep connection to his ethnic roots and culture, he was persecuted by Soviet authorities, who imprisoned him for four years and later prevented him from practicing his craft.

He was half Georgian half Armenian I think & the country of Azerbaijan is actually historically called 'Aran'. they named it Azerbaijan to break from Russia about a century ago and join the real Azerbaijan, unsuccessfully. Azerbaijan with 90% of Azeri speakers is in Iran. Sergei was also a dissident & jailed & tortured by orders of KGB criminals like Aliev (later pres. of Azerbaijan, then became fascist mafia family head-his son now is in power there!). Sergei was also gay. A Caucasian genius & gift for the world!

He wasnt half georgian - 100% armenian. He just grow up in Georgia , and became a Master in Georgiafilm studio.
Aliev had nothing to do with him , who told you this bullshit? Aliev couldn't do nothing to him - Parajanov newer been workin in Azerbaijan, JUST ONSE and thats it.
