[DVD9] Gemini (1999) - (Japanese DVD)
A Film by Shinya Tsukamoto
Art-House | 1.78:1 | Color | Japanese Dolby Digital 2.0 | English, Japanese Subtitles | 84 min.
Full Original Dual-Layer DVD Image (.ISO) + HQ PDF Scans = 7.98 GBs | 200MB RARs | MU

From Tetsuo: The Iron Man to Tokyo Fist, Japanese cult director Tsukamoto Shinya has built his career on subverting and shocking through grotesque subject matters, graphic images, and over-the-top violence. His films take viewers on lush, surreal journeys to the root of human nature, however ugly and disturbing that may be. Based on an Edogawa Rampo story, his 1999 film Gemini, a.k.a. Soseji, considered by some to be the director's best work, departs from the modern industrial landscape of his previous films for a late Meiji period setting. The film stars Motoko Masahiro (The Bird People in China) in dual roles, caught in a fatalistic battle with inner and outer demons.
Country doctor Yukio (Motoki Masahiro) couldn't ask for much more from life. Well respected in the community, he has a flourishing practice and a beautiful wife (Ryo), albeit one who can't remember her past. Yukio prefers to associate with the upper class, and his disdain for the less fortunate causes him to turn away from those in need. But soon his storybook life begins to fall apart, with the murder of his parents and the appearance of a dangerous man who looks exactly like him and is intent on taking over his life.

This is a test between MU and MF.
Posted By: Kushami Date: 28 Mar 2010 06:40:56
CR do you live in Japan by any chance?
Posted By: Gnulp312 Date: 28 Mar 2010 07:13:48
@Kushami: if you assume that CR-San could be a Japanese only for loving japanese culture, I dare say italians (taking this from your upload list)become, day by day, more dull for Berlusconi regimen. I'm just kidding, CR-San thanks a lot for this magnificient upload,MF seems to have more speed then MU. We'll inform you anyway

Posted By: CerealRipper Date: 28 Mar 2010 07:38:22
@Gnulp312

Beware, I believe Kushami is indeed Italian... and a girl perhaps.. right Kushami? And thanks for the feedback on MF vs MU.

->CR do you live in Japan by any chance?

It depends... right now I live here...

Best,
CR

Mediafire is better!
Arigato!
Posted By: arrri Date: 28 Mar 2010 11:18:38
In my experience, Mediafire is much faster than Megaupload free account. Thanks for your generosity CR, wherever you are!
Posted By: schonfs Date: 28 Mar 2010 12:18:30
Mediafire may be faster, but it certainly has problems in lots of countries. I was doing some research on forums and found out that on some countries (like mine, for instance), it simply doesn't work with download managers like jdownloader, so we have to end up downloading directly from the link, without the resume function - and, like the full iso files that CR uploaded the other day, lots of people were having problems downloading it (because sometimes the download simply stops). So, on behalf those people who unfortunately can't have a decent connection with MF, i kindly ask to continue uploading files on Megaupload. And keep those great films coming. =)

Thanks as always CR. I Wouldn't want to inconvenience you but would it be possible to have the MU links as a dlc, txt file or something; or could someone advise on how to get the links from the MU folder into a download manager.
My thoughts on MU vs MF are that maybe MU gives the greatest speed to the greatest number. A DVD5 for me is ten minutes on MU or eighteen hours plus on MF, a DVD9 could be three days. Your uploading is so phenomenal that I for one would get left straggling. I'm sure that for others the situation is reversed and it would be interesting to know to what extent.
Most Avaxers will hold RS accounts but I'm sure many members of the CR fan club will have bought a MU premium account this weekend. I may start putting my (very infrequent) movie uploads on both RS and MU. In fact I may start the Criterion Hard Boiled of this afternoon if this isn't stepping on your toes.
Yours
M45

Nice to see you again. Thank you for your work.

Posted By: Kushami Date: 28 Mar 2010 14:39:21
@Gnulp ahahah you are partially right after all, I'm not one of his supportes anyway, totally on the opposite side. :D
@CR I thought so, those japanese-editions dvds are impossible to find outside japan :(
I wish I lived in Japan too, surrounded by moe merchandise and beautiful trains <3
(guy not girl lol)
Posted By: Prince Myshkin Date: 28 Mar 2010 15:58:14
@Kushami: So true about the trains!!!

For me downloads with Megaupload are 2-3 times faster then with Mediafire (and no problems with stopping).

BTW, I always thought CR is Portuguese (maybe Brazilian) with some good Asian connections.
Posted By: CerealRipper Date: 28 Mar 2010 18:01:11
Great posts everybody! Thanks for the FB!

@mook45
I'll see if I let a DLC container available, but Jdownlaoder can easily grab files from the MU folder, at least my version of it. Anyway, I won't work with folders anymore, this was a one time only test. Between RS and MU, the most important thing is that you keep a strong backup. And please go ahead and post the Hard Boiled, I am sure many many people are expecting this one!

Prince Myshkin
@Brazil is the second country with most number of Japanese people (after Japan of course), the emperor himself (the prince) visited the japanese in Brazil a while ago.

@Kushami
I thought you were a girl because there is an anime female anime character/persona with this name, an evil blonde woman.

I have to remind everybody that you do not need to wait for downloads to finish to start another with mediafire, you can download as many as you want.

@schonfs

These 200MB chunks from mediafire continue to be problematic to you?

Best,
CR
Posted By: Kushami Date: 28 Mar 2010 21:07:37
Kushami is also the (nick)name of the main character of Soseki Natsume's "I am a cat".
Posted By: CerealRipper Date: 28 Mar 2010 21:33:56
Very true Kushami, and this spectacular novel was brought into a film by Kon Ichikawa.

Best,
CR
Posted By: shinkai Date: 28 Mar 2010 21:50:10
CerealRipper, maybe you should take a look at multiuploading sites like: http://multiupload.com/ or http://www.sharebee.com/, so everybody could pick their own favorite.
Posted By: CerealRipper Date: 28 Mar 2010 22:20:07
Yes, I am ignorant i don't know these sites...

You work they get rich! Very smart...
Posted By: hombresuhi Date: 28 Mar 2010 23:28:26
Thx again, and again, and again, CR.
For me, mediafire works better so far (free user).
Posted By: lauryyk Date: 28 Mar 2010 23:57:58
So;

Nice to see you around here again, friend CR.

I am, of course, still with rapidshare. But regarding the MU & MF, I'd prefer you go MU, if for no other reason being that MU's speed being better. So far.

(Maybe I need to dust off that list of anime now. Damn, says the ever-lazy lauryyk.)
Posted By: Gnulp312 Date: 29 Mar 2010 14:23:45
I just add that with MF I can download more files combined together at higher speed, while MU sets a sort of blocking time after a certain number of downloads. At the end downloading a DVD5 from MU took more time then a DVD9 from MF!
Posted By: bennyrussell Date: 30 Mar 2010 13:24:34
So, you´re back! And with a few movies I REALLY wanted to see in high quality! : )

Thanks a lot once again, CR! There are SO MANY great movies I wouldn´t be able to see if it wasn´t for you!

From the dept. of useless information, kushami means sneeze in Japanese.
Posted By: ooliver Date: 01 Apr 2010 07:45:09
Thanks CerealRipper for sll!!
You think to re-upload some of your older share deleted by RS?
Posted By: numbernine Date: 02 Apr 2010 09:27:49
Thank you, CR
I second mook45 opinion (except his connection speed - 10 minutes for a DVD5!!!), MU is faster.
I bought a MU premium this week only because of your uploads, (besides my previous RS premium) only 10 bucks for a full month unlimited traffic

Thanks again

CR, can you help me to extract the ISO ?

H:\Downloads\DL-92941.part39.rar: CRC failed in GEMINI.iso. The file is corrupt

I don't intent to annoy you with comments about errors
I read all your instructions
Follow all the procedures
Downloaded your suggested software - 7-Zip 9.12 beta (2010-03-24) for Windows
Downloaded SEVERAL times part39 (overwriting the previous) FROM MEGAUPLOAD AND FROM MEDIAFIRE, TOO
About a FULL LOG, all I got from 7-ZIP and from WINRAR is the messages: "H:\Downloads\DL-92941.part39.rar: CRC failed in GEMINI.iso. The file is corrupt" and "7-ZIP Diagnostic messages 0 CRC failed in "GEMINI.ISO" File is broken"
7-ZIP stops at 98% copying'

Thank you for all your CRITERION uploads and for any help you can
Posted By: CerealRipper Date: 02 Apr 2010 23:08:42
It should have some error correction into it. I have to confess that these RAR files were not created by myself, they were generated on an external server. You can just IGNORE the error (there is an option in both WinRAR and 7-Zip) and unrar the Image anyway, then check and see if the image works fine.If this solution doesn't work for you I suggest you to download the 100MB version from my blog:

http://www.thedailycereal.com/Main/Films/Entries/2010/3/28_%5BDVD9%5D_Gemini_%281999%29_-_%28Japanese_DVD%29.html

These have 10% error correction and were tested before submitted. Sorry for this problem. If you find any other errors in any other DVD of mine please let me know.

Best,
CR

Thank you, CR
I´ve got your new 100 MB version, works fine
Please keep with megaupload

BTW, I suppose you are a brazilian dekasegi

Posted By: CerealRipper Date: 05 Apr 2010 11:01:53
No, I am no dekaseg, I am not a japanese descendent at all.

I am glad you finally got the DVD!

Best,
CR

Any Rapidshare mirrors of this?

Thanks for the DVD, CerealRipper! Tsukamoto Shinya is modern and Motoki Masahiro is genuine.
