Traveling home by train through seemingly on the brink of war, two sisters - the sickly, intellectual Ester and sensual, pragmatic Anna - along with Anna's young son, Johan, are forced to disembark in an unknown city in order for Ester to rest. Attempting to cope with their alien surroundings, the sisters resort to their personal vices while vying for Johan's affection, and in so doing sabotage what little remains of their ambiguous relationship. Regarded as one of the most sexually provocative films of its day, with captivating performances by Ingrid Thulin, Gunnel Lindblom, and Jörgen Lindström, Ingmar Bergman's The Silence offers a brilliant, disturbing vision of emotional isolation in a suffocating spiritual void. (-DVD cover)
"The Silence" is about the emotional distance between two sisters. The younger one is still attractive enough to pick up a lover in a strange city. The older one -- even though she is very ill -- would like to make a human connection also but cannot leave the hotel room. Traveling with the sisters is a small boy who escapes into the hotel, meets a troupe of dwarfs. Which sister is this little boy's mother? (http://imdb.com/title/tt0057611/plotsummary)
Between 1961 and 1963, Ingmar Bergman released a remarkable trilogy of so-called chamber dramas, each one concerned with the futility of sustaining faith in God, family, love, or much else. The series proved transitional for the internationally renowned Swedish filmmaker, securing his crucial collaboration with cinematographer Sven Nykvist (with whom Bergman would go on to make his many masterpieces--including Persona and Cries and Whispers--of the '60s, '70s, and early '80s), and underscoring a new preference for intimate, relationship-driven stories, austere settings, and haunting tones of emotional isolation and despair. Following Through a Glass Darkly and Winter Light, The Silence is the most abstract entry in the trilogy, a somewhat eerie story of two sisters, Esther (Ingrid Thulin) and Anna (Gunnel Lindblom), and the latter's son (Jörgen Lindström), all traveling by train to Sweden but forced to stay in a foreign country when Esther's chronic bronchial problems require her to rest. A stifling atmosphere, a desolate hotel, encounters with a troupe of carnival dwarves, Anna's anchoring illness, and an empty sexual encounter for Esther underscore the unnerving feeling that God has abandoned these characters to dubious salvation in their own connection. A highly memorable film. (www.amazon.com)
Ester: All this talk... There's no need to discuss loneliness. It's a waste of time. (http://imdb.com/title/tt0057611/quotes)
The film was submitted to the rating bureau just weeks after the directions had been liberalized a bit: it went through without cuts, and made a real stir. It attracted huge audiences, was fiercely debated - and acquired a reputation for being the film that shot the first big hole in the "sex censorship wall" of Swedish moviemaking. Within five years, film censorship had become a formality. (http://imdb.com/title/tt0057611/trivia)
No, bright moments surely are scarce in 'The Silence'. This movie's pace origins from the limited conscience of an eight-year-old boy. We see its story happen through his eyes, a filter put on by Bergman. This stroke of his genius makes 'The Silence' a truly magnificent movie. (www.amazon.com)

starazaba, did you tried to repair corrupt parts ?
There is 3% recovery record in each of those rar parts.
Please first try :
WinRAR Menu - Tools - Repair Archive
(and use fixed-rar-parts while extracting archive)
good luck
I used the winrar repair tool for each corrupted part. (I repaired each corrupt part separately).
You don't need to address the final 'wrong password' error message because it will vanish after the corrupted archive files are repaired.
All 15 parts then unrared perfectly.
Thanks for this rare film. =)
